Our summer series, A Meal Called Communion, has been engaging and I believe it has redefined our sense of life together around the Table of the Lord. The genesis of the series was Mike Graves' provocative book, Table Talk. And it was our pleasure to host Mike as our preacher in worship on August 5.
This coming Sunday we will turn our reflection to preparations for life shifts; going back to school will become a rich metaphor for setting our sights in the right spiritual direction.
By the way, this would be a perfect time to exercise your Christian art of invitation. People are frequently in the "search" mode when it comes to spirituality and the religious life. We just don't know when a person may be open to invitation. I invite you to invite those persons in your orbit of influence who may be looking for a community of faith. Give them an invitation. Offer to join them in some aspect of Broadway - worship, service, fellowship, or a small group.
It really is about Christ at the center, the host, and plenty of good room in God's household.
