Thanks to the generous sponsors, donors and attendees who joined in our recent 40th anniversary celebraton and recognized the many contributions of longtime board members Fran and Myron Kaminsky. It was a night to remember!

Click here to read Bunny Ware's column in Sunday's  Savannah Morning News , and click here   for a full list of sponsors and a link to more images. Together, we raised more than $150,000 for the Next Generation Fund, established in the Kaminsky's honor.
Hospice Savannah Golf Tournament is Nov. 1st

In addition to causing us to relocate staff and Hospice House patients, Hurricane Dorian caused the cancellation of our annual Golf Tournament sponsored by USI Insurance!  USI's Daniel Sims, Jr. encourages you to get a foursome together and join in some Friday afternoon fun on November 1. Full details available here, or contact our Foundation's Ophelia Rodriguez at 912.629.1027
Do YOU Provide Care For A Loved One?

This month our Edel Caregiver Institute offers hands-on Caregiving Skills 101 on Friday, October 25th (how, for example, would you safely transfer your loved one from bed to bedside commode, or comfortably get them in a bath tub if they are confused or physically compromised?) and an Understanding a Dementia Diagnosis on Wednesday, October 30th.

Additionally, we host caregiver support groups in many locations throughout the community - find one near you! A caregiver's own patience, health and mental well-being are often compromised, but free help and support is just a phone call away. Reach Jill at 912.629.1331 or find out more here .
Yoga Relay Fun

Kate Doran, owner of Savannah Power Yoga , understands the caregiver stresses mentioned above.  For the fourth time, she hosted a yoga relay - the perfect metaphor for caregiving....we need to trust others to take over in order to give us a much-needed break from time to time. Thanks to Kate and all the participants who raised more than $12,000 for our Edel Caregiver Institute (ECI).

Pictured are happy yogis Kathy Kanis (ECI volunteer) and Dr. Paula DeNitto.
Thrift Shoppe Exposure!

We were delighted to be a sponsor of the St. Joseph's/Candler SmartWomen Luncheon and Expo last week. Many women (who purchased designer clothing from our booth!) were surprised to learn about our upscale Hospice Savannah Thrift Shoppe located at 331 Hwy. 80 E in Pooler...Come check us out and please help us spread the word!
Serious Progressive Illness Management

On September 8, CEO Dr. Kathleen Benton (above left) had a colmum in the  Savannah Morning News entitled  "Find the Right Support for your Progressive Illness".

The column is a quick and informative read aimed at removing the stigma associated with palliative care - the main goal of which "is to work with patients early in their disease through conversaton and education, years before they may ever need hospice care."  Click here to learn  more about the help provided by the Steward Center for Palliative Care.
Looking Back Over Four Decades
Sit back and enjoy the video we showed at our 40 th Celebration! Hospice Savannah has grown to offer so many programs and services over the years. Most of these are only possible because of the generosity of community members and supporters just like you!
