Isaac's Corner established at WES

Isaac Jones attended Bassett Elementary before losing his battle with cancer. Isaac's Corner was created at Bassett as a respite for students that were unable to go outside for recess. Isaac's Corner has been reestablished at the new elementary building. The Jones family, and the WES community, hope that “Isaac's Corner” can be a space where Isaac’s spirit of wonder and childhood imagination can continue to spark creativity and joy in the lives of the children who visit this space. Please read more about Isaac and Isaac's Corner here .

Reflections Art Contest

Calling all creative students! It’s time for the annual PTA Reflections contest! The theme of this year’s contest is Look Within . Acceptable work can be a dance choreography, film production, literature, music composition, photography, or visual art. Learn more about the Reflections program here .
Deadline for entries is Monday, November 18th. Please turn in submissions, along with the attached completed entry form , to the WES main office. If students have larger visual art projects, we are offering two turn-in dates: Monday, November 4 and Monday, November 18, so that larger projects can be promptly collected by a Reflections chair to ensure their safe keeping.

All artwork will be displayed in an Art Show at Porter Library on Wednesday, December 4th from 3:30 PM to 7 PM. All participants are also invited to the Reflections Awards Ceremony on Sunday, February 9th, 1 PM at the WHS PAC.
The WES PTA “Adult Social Committee” is a group committed to creating opportunities for parents from all 4 of our neighborhood schools to mix and mingle in a fun environment. Our mission is to create quarterly opportunities to engage our community members in “Parents Only” activities designed to create new friendships and fun!

Our 1st event will be at Board and Brush in Westlake. If you are unfamiliar, B&B is a creative studio where you can make personalized signs and decor. The best news is that you don’t need to be creative at all because they teach each step! With Holidays around the corner perhaps you’d make a personalized gift for someone? Bring in your own snacks & studio sells soft drinks, wine and beer for your enjoyment.

Please join us for a fun afternoon of creativity, camaraderie and a cocktail, if you like.

Where: Board & Brush Creative Studio in Westlake

Cost: The WES “adult social committee” has negotiated a discounted rate for our event.
The cost is $50 p/p. It’s payable upon registration.  Click here for the link to sign up! Don’t wait! We have limited space (only 40 spots) so get in early to guarantee your spot.
