AIA outlines how people can safely return to offices post pandemic

Re-occupancy Assessment Tool V1.0

The purpose of this document is to provide architects, private clients, and civic leaders a framework of strategies for reoccupying buildings and businesses that are in the process of transitioning from being fully closed to fully open. This document aims to provide a range of general mitigation measures to consider, with the understanding that the risk of infection can only be "flattened" and not eliminated entirely. Solutions require a coordinated approach between building features and operational practices.

As a reminder, you can find this and other COVID19 Resources on our AIACOC website HERE.

Specifying Plumbing Fixtures for K-12 and Higher Education Facilities

presented by

Learning Objectives:

Examine the factors that influence commercial restroom design for K-12 education facilities such as design, specification process, product preference for new construction vs. retrofits, water conservation and sustainability efforts.

Review the factors that influence commercial restroom design for higher education facilities such as design, specification process, product preference for new construction vs. retrofits, water conservation and sustainability efforts.

Identify how product selection of electronic sensors, low flow and dual flush toilets, retrofits for faucets and flushometers, as well as solar and turbine power contribute to water conservation for energy and cost savings.

Understand how compliance with ADA affects commercial restroom product selection for education facilities.

Attendees will earn 1 hour of HSW credit for participating in this virtual learning opportunity.

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD

Fitzsimmons Architects & Lingo Construction - Doing GOOD THINGS!
Fitzsimmons Architects teamed up with Lingo Construction to design and build a Personal Protection Pod for medical staff. It eliminates the need for disposable PPE during virus testing.

It started when a local health system wanted to launch a broad testing initiative but needed to preserve PPE. They looked at what other countries like S Korea were doing & found the booth idea. So Brian engaged Lingo, the Fitz team made modifications, Brian found the gloves online and Lingo donated the materials and their time to construct it. A couple of physicians tested it for size and usability, and it was delivered to Saint Anthony's North on May 7.
