Nevada GEAR UP Digest
May 2020

May 20, 2020

This month, our students have wrapped up the semester under unique and challenging circumstances. We are so immensely proud of them for persevering with their studies through this difficult time. We would like to thank our Ambassadors and students alike for finishing the Spring 2020 semester with enthusiasm and aplomb.

Additionally, in this issue we will be addressing NSHE's recent virtual town hall meetings, as well as the open GEAR UP Research Administrator position located in Las Vegas.

Have a happy summer, and kudos to all for making it through the 2019-2020 school year!
Thank You Ambassadors! covid
As the year comes to a close, we would like to thank our GEAR UP Ambassadors for all the hard work they have done to keep our students motivated and successful. Each of our Ambassadors have spent countless hours working to help GEAR UP students across the state transition to college and through their first year of college by hosting events, serving as advisors and mentors, and offering myriad resources to help students feel secure and at home.

They are a vital part of keeping students confident about attending and staying in college, and we are immensely thankful for the amount of time and effort they have put into proving that #GEARUPWorks!
NSHE Virtual Town Hall Highlights grading
NSHE hosted two virtual town halls last week, for Northern Institutions on Thursday (5/14) and for Southern Institutions on Friday (5/15).

NSHE Chancellor Thom Reilly, Board of Regents Chair Jason Geddes, and Regents Vice Chair Mark Doubrava discussed topics related to COVID-19, such as the future of possible in-person classes and resident housing in the fall.
