MARK YOUR CALENDAR:
Upcoming SEA Bargaining Listening Sessions
The Seattle Education Association is the voice for educators and our students, standing united to address the needs of our community during this pandemic and to transform our district into an anti-racist school system where every student thrives.
Dear SEA Members,

As many of you know, SEA has been called to the bargaining table to negotiate over the District’s decision to return students to in-person learning for PreK-1st grades, and some students in special education pathways as soon as March 1. In our initial meeting with district leadership, we requested that SPS provide detailed information so that we can understand their plans and proposals fully. We await their response.

To prepare for negotiations, the bargaining team needs your input. Earlier today all SEA members should have received an email with the link to the SEA survey to inform bargaining. If you did not receive the SEA survey at your home email address, please send a message to Tim Clements-Levin <[email protected]>
We will be holding multiple listening sessions during the process to hear from as many members as possible. Please mark your calendar to attend one of these upcoming listening sessions (Please note the information provided will be the same at these sessions.):

Finally, over the past few days there has been a growing movement from superintendents and elected leaders to prioritize educators for vaccination. So far, leaders who have called for this are Superintendent Juneau (link here), Superintendent Reykdal (link here), and legislators in the Washington House and Senate who lead education committees. SEA sent a letter (link here) of support for Superintendent Juneau’s request.

In Solidarity,

Jennifer Matter, SEA President
Uti Hawkins, SEA Vice President
