proudly announces new Library Trustees:
environmentalist and former investment banker Mary P. Moran
and philanthropist and former journalist Gillian Steel
HYDE PARK, NY -- The Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum has announced two new Library Trustees:
Mary Moran, an environmentalist and former investment banker; and
Gillian Steel, a philanthropist and former journalist. The Library Board of Trustees is charged with ensuring FDR's legacy is preserved and accessible to the public for generations to come.
Roosevelt Library Director Paul Sparrow said, "President Roosevelt created the Trustees to ensure that this first Presidential Library would have both financial and popular support. We are proud and honored to welcome these two incredibly accomplished women to the Trustees and look forward to working with them for many years."
Mary P. Moran graduated from Trinity College with a B.A. in literature and from the Wharton Business School with an M.B.A. in finance. She worked in the publishing and cable television industries for
Rolling Stone magazine and Home Box Office before joining Donaldson, Lufkin and Jenrette as an investment banker specializing in underwriting and mergers, and acquisitions for media and telecommunications companies. She has served on many boards and currently serves on the board of NRDC (Natural Resources Defense Council) a large and influential environmental non-profit. She also serves as the co-chair of the Steering Committee of the Yale Forestry and Environmental School. She lives in Greenwich, CT with her husband, Garret Moran.
Gillian Steel graduated from the University of Colorado in Boulder with a B.A. in history and from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University with a Master's degree. She was an editorial assistant with the
Chicago Daily News and an assignment desk editor for WBBM-TV news, a CBS affiliate in Chicago. She was later a copy editor with
Crain's Chicago Business. She moved to London with her husband, Robert Steel, and three daughters and currently lives in New York City and Greenwich, CT. She serves on the boards of the New York Historical Society, the New York Botanical Garden and the Aspen Music Festival. She is also involved with several other cultural and educational organizations.
