A Message from the Superintendent
Board of Education votes unanimously 7-0 in support of safety and security measures.

Dr. Lynn Panega
During the Lake Park High School Board of Education Meeting on Monday, May 21, board members unanimously voted 7-0 in support of the following safety and security recommendations:
  • Safety and Security Personnel Structure - in addition to current hall monitor positions
  • Protective safety film product - districtwide installation on windows and doors, including classroom door sidelights
  • New video surveillance system - update to IP-based architecture system replacing existing system installed in 2004
These unanimously approved agenda items will be be implemented for the 2018-19 school year, and next steps are commencing immediately in preparation.

In the coming months, the Board of Education will continue aggressively researching internal controls including a card access system as well as the implementation of other physical security measures.

We greatly appreciate the partnership with local law enforcement in critically reviewing and supporting Lake Park's vision to implement additional security measures.
2018-19 Implementation of Grade Level Teams
Pupil Personnel Services, Student Services teams to be assigned to students for four years.

Members of the Pupil Personnel Services (PPS) and Student Services departments are looking forward to the implementation of a grade level team model for the 2018-19 school year and beyond. Traditionally, students have transitioned between the East Campus and West Campus and needed to develop new relationships with counselors and other assigned PPS members.

The new structure for 2018-19 features:
  • Four grade level teams, each consisting of a dean, social worker and two counselors. Team members will work with their students for four years and will travel campuses with their class.
  • Two reassigned counselors in new positions. One who will serve as an Education Support Counselor and the other who will focus on college and career readiness. Each of these positions will service students at both campuses.
  • Campus-based nurses and psychologists. Lake Park's existing staff members in these roles will remain serving the campus to which they are currently assigned.
This model will allow the PPS members to build meaningful relationships as well as provide a level of specialty to better serve the various needs of our students and families. Counselors have prepared for this transition through ongoing professional development to strengthen their skills in all stages of high school development.

Please view the 2018-19 grade level organizational chart to help introduce you to our existing team members in their new assignments for next school year. This summary document contains the grade level teams, alphabet split assignments by last name, and active email addresses if you would like to contact members of your student's team.

For planning purposes, a counselor will be available during the summer one day a week at each campus. Appointments can be made by contacting the Counseling Office at (630) 295-5341 should you have any questions that emerge over the summer.

Thank you for your support and helping to create a smooth transition for your student(s) next year. Please contact Director of PPS, Dr. Mitch Berenson, with any questions about the 2018-19 implementation of these grade level teams.
