MVHS Boys Water Polo Continues
Road to Second Championship
|
|
Following their CIF Championship, the Mission Viejo High School Boys Water Polo team continued their journey to the
SoCal Boys Division III - 2019 CIF Water Polo Championships
over Thanksgiving break. During the competition, MVHS took on Eagle Rock High School, Rancho Mirage and Mt. Carmel, winning all 3 matches, making MVHS the So Cal Boys Division III - 2019 CIF Champions! The team earned an overall record of 24-12 during their historic season. Athletic Director, Troy Roelen shared, "Coach Kevin Mitchell, in his fourth year with the school, has worked with these athletes to build a program and re-establish a winning culture. The team set a lofty goal to be CIF Champions at the beginning of the season." Congratulations, Diablos, on exceeding that goal!

On October 18, students from the Adult Transition Program (ATP) participated in a basketball game with intercollegiate athletes from Saddleback College, the first Unified event put on with the support of the college. The ATP students were fully integrated in a basketball game with athletes, referees, coaches, and cheerleaders. The gym was packed to cheer on these adults as they participated in an inclusive sporting event and all that participated had a great time! We look forward to developing more opportunities to support the Unified Sports model. You can watch some of our former high school students participating by clicking the YouTube link below.

San Joaquin Elementary has become “Royally Kind”! Over the last 4 weeks, SJE students have worked to cultivate a culture of kindness towards their school, family and themselves. Students were invited to carry out various kindness challenges and also created their own challenges. The students who completed and created the most kindness challenges were “knighted” by Medieval Times’ Royal Family in front of the entire school. The emphasis on being kind towards others and a focus on social emotional learning has created an atmosphere of inclusiveness and positivity all around the campus!
