Pashmina
We're honored to be helping out at Park Hill Library's author event when they host graphic novelist, Nidhi Chanani. Nidhi's debut graphic novel, Pashmina, is a Bookies favorite.

Priyanka Das has always wondered why her mother abandon her home in India--and who her father is. But Pri's mom avoids these questions. When Pri finds a mysterious pashmina tucked away in a forgotten suitcaset, she is transported to a place more vivid and colorful than any guidebook or Bollywood film. But is this the real India? And what is that shadow lurking in the background?

Come and meet Nidhi at Park Hill Branch Library, 4705 Montview Blvd., Denver, CO 80207, on Thursday, June 15th, from 4-5:30 p.m.
Facing Life_s Last Chapters
Talking about Aging and Dying
Expressing your wishes about how you would like to face aging and dying is never easy. But not talking about it won't make the inevitable go away. Now a local mother and daughter are taking on this conversation and helping others do it too.

Libby and Patty Bortz have been making presentations about how to approach these critical discussions as a family, and now they are launching a CD and booklet, entitled Mother & Daughter: Facing Life's Last Chapters so that their approach to the "estate planning of the heart" can be shared by more people.

There is more to the later years of life than having an up-to-date will. The Bortzs' discussions include sharing your wishes about staying in your own home, dealing with deteriorating health, financial affairs and end-of-life preferences. They emphasize the importance of discussing these matters early, when older family members can express their wishes for the future, giving their younger family members a map to follow if times get hard.

Look for the booklet and CD on our front counter.
