Words with Wilson
The meat of Words with Wilson is going to look familiar to you as I sent it out in an email earlier this week.  I do, however, want to take this opportunity to celebrate our wonderful music teacher, Mrs. Elam. Every year the annual Christmas Concert is beautiful.  The amount of time and energy that it takes to make it such a lovely evening is endless. I love how excited the kids are to perform. Meredith does an outstanding job with our music department.  She is quiet, humble, very talented, and always lets her faith shine brightly. Thank you Mrs. Elam for sharing your talents with us!

This year we are holding two nights of Christmas Concerts.  The hope is that this will help with crowd size, and also the length of the concert.  All 6th -8th grade students will have their concert on Thursday, December 12th. This concert also includes 5th grade band students. The concert begins at 7pm in our church.  Students should be dropped off to the school at 6:30 pm.  We ask that each student dress in appropriate Christmas clothes for Thursday night’s performance.

Our PK-5th Grade Christmas concert is scheduled for Thursday, December 19th at 6:30 p.m.
Pre-Kindergarten through 5th grade students, as well as the 3rd -5th grade choir members, will be performing a wide variety of Christmas songs throughout the evening.  Family and friends are all welcome to attend. Our Christmas program this year will take place in the church. Students should be dropped off at school at 6pm. We ask that each student dress in appropriate Christmas clothes for Thursday night’s performance.

Once again we will be having a 1:30 p.m. concert on December 19th.  We will not have an afternoon show on the 12th since the middle school is much smaller than PK-5th.  The afternoon show gives parents and family members the opportunity to avoid the crowds and the cold often associated with the evening concert.  Please note that attendance at the afternoon concert does not exclude your child from performing at the evening concert .

These concerts are free of charge.  Free will offerings will be accepted as you leave the concert, with all proceeds benefiting our school music program.

Hats, Gloves, Scarves, & Socks
Student Leadership will be collecting Hats, Gloves, Scarves and Socks beginning December 9th until Christmas Break. We appreciate any and all donations. The kids will hang these on their Advent Bulletin Boards in the Hallways as a visual reminder that Advent is a Season of Giving.
Teacher/Staff Christmas Gifts
We would like to offer everyone the opportunity to contribute to group/class Christmas gifts for our wonderful teachers and support staff.

We will be collecting donations from now until  Friday,   December 13th  for anyone that would like to contribute. Your donations will be used to purchase various gift cards, through our SCRIP program, for the teachers and support staff of your choice.

Your donation can be made through our online giving link (below), cash or check. It is asked that all cash and/or checks (payable to St. Roch) be in sealed envelopes and marked for Stephanie Littell or "School Office." Also please specify who the donation will go towards and the amount.

When you break down your donation, you can list specific people or groups of people. We have homeroom teachers, resource teachers, special area teachers (Art, Music, P.E. Spanish, & Computer) cafeteria staff, instructional assistants, support staff and administration

Feel free to contact the office with any questions or concerns. Please note that this is optional. SCRIP cards are a great way to show appreciation to our teachers and support staff as well as giving back to the school. Buying gift cards through SCRIP is a program that donates a percentage of its sales back to the school.

Sack Lunch Day
All Students must bring a sack lunch to school on Tuesday, December 17th.  The PTO Is hosting a special Christmas luncheon for the faculty and staff. We would like for our cafeteria workers to be able to attend as well.

In addition, we are still in need of volunteers to help cover classrooms during the staff lunch on the 17th.  Please click the link below to sign up.

Roncalli High School will be hosting Dr. Amy LaHood, Family Medicine Specialist at St. Vincent Hospital, who will be speaking to parents on "The Vaping Crisis." Dr. LaHood has been in family medicine for over two decades and has been on the front lines battling the vaping crisis with families and teenagers. Parents, please join us for this important presentation on Monday, January 27th in the Roncalli Auditorium from 6:30-7:30pm. Any parent of a St. Roch student that attends will receive a wristband that allows their child(ren) to be out of uniform that next day. Please note that this presentation is geared towards parents, and not children nor students.
Inclement Weather
If we ever have a 2 hour delay, early dismissal, or school closing because of inclement weather, we will notify the teachers and parents using the following:
1. Notified via email to all parents and staff.
2. Posted on our "Saint Roch Catholic School" Facebook Group Page
3. Posted on our Twitter page
4. A text Alert
5. Posted via local TV stations: Channel 4, 6, 8, 13, 59 (this is the last places I notify, please look for above methods first)

As always, as the parent YOU are the one that makes the decision on whether to bring your children to school each day because of weather and/or road conditions. If we are in school at a normal time and the roads around your home or area are not safe to travel, please call the school office and notify the school that your children will not be attending school because of inclement weather. Your student will be given an excused absence.
