BSA and Title 31. These are exhilarating topics for most casino employees.  They rank right up there with watching paint dry and renewing your gaming license.  Who could possibly get excited about regulations that mandate annual training and testing on a topic that doesn't really seem relevant for today's casinos?  Mindy Letourneau, for one.

Mindy got her start teaching Title 31, and a decade ago she used that knowledge, along with her early experiences in banking and casino cage operations, to start Casino Essentials. Today, she's the firm's managing director, and Casino Essentials has become one of the leading firms specializing in online and seminar training on everything from Forklift Safety to Cybersecurity and Sexual Harassment. Casino Essentials' annual four-day National Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Conference in Las Vegas is almost mandatory for your compliance team to keep up on the latest info and techniques to avoid fines and damaging audits

The traditional reel-spinning genre has defied pundits to survive and prosper on the slot floor
by Frank Legato, CDC Gaming Reports

Casinos are populated by many games that have remained relatively unchanged for decades, even centuries. The survival of blackjack and craps into the 21st century can be traced in part to mechanics of the games that have remained the same for generations.

Traditional reel-spinning slot machines are similar. The basic design created by Charles Fey in the 1890s still appeals to thousands of players today. Many of those games even still include a handle to initiate the spin, complete with springs to simulate the action of the old mechanical games - even if all it does is touch an electronic spin button.

It's tough to find good books about casino marketing (more on that search later), but there is one new title that you might want to seek out: David Norton's The High Roller Experience. It seems you can't mention casino marketing these days without someone talking about the Harrah's/Caesars operation, and this book is no exception. David Norton served as the CMO for Caesars for a dozen years before he started his own firm (GALE) to help clients with 'data-informed strategic insights.'
