Highlights: Get Us Moving Survey for Transportation Priorities, Public Works Updates, Volunteer Opportunities with City of Pacifica for Adults and Youth
Connect With Pacifica This Week
Greetings!

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, but knowing that repeating oneself several times helps deliver the message, I am really encouraging Pacificans to fill out the County’s “Get Us Moving” survey to inform the County Transit District about how you think potential new County-wide sales tax revenues should be spent on transit. Your survey input will make a difference by helping deliver a clear message to the County about what is important to Pacificans – repairing local streets, highway improvements, public transit improvements, bike/pedestrian route improvements, or other. If approved by the Transit District and the County Board of Supervisors, there may be a ½ cent county-wide sales tax measure on the ballot in November 2018. Please take the survey !

Please let me know if you have comments or questions, and  thank you  for wanting to  Connect with Pacifica !

Sincerely,
KEVIN WOODHOUSE
City Manager

  • Public Works Updates:
  1. Calera Creek Water Recycling Plant Maintenance May 25 - June 8: Calera Creek Water Recycling Plant will be conducting annual cleaning and maintenance from May 25 through June 8, and occasionally the surrounding area might experience sporadic odor. The City of Pacifica apologies for any inconvenience this may cause. Thank you for your patience and cooperation while we work to improve the community for residents and visitors alike.
  2. Pedro Point Collection System Replacement Project Update: Active construction is underway and expected to be substantially completed by end of September 2018. Work on Kent Road and Blackburn Terrace has been completed. For the week of May 21 to June 1, the majority of the work on Stanley Ave., Laurel Way, and San Pedro Ave. is expected to be completed. For more information, please see the project webpage. If you are interested in replacing your lateral it is not too late. Please notify the contractor, David King with Pacific Trenchless as soon as possible. David can be reached at 415-748-0773 or david.king.pti@gmail.com
  3. Free Pet Waste Bag Dispensers to Clean Up After Your Pet for a Healthy Environment: Pet waste left on sidewalks, streets, yards and other open areas can be washed away by rains and irrigation systems, making its way into storm drains leading into local creeks and the ocean. Pollution from the pet waste can harm the water quality and habitat. Carry disposable bags when you walk your pet and pick up and dispose of pet waste in a garbage can. Offer extra bags to other pet owners who are without. Clean up after your dog every single time. FREE Dog Bag Dispenser and Waste Bags are available to Pacifica residents from the City of Pacifica while supplies last. Pick yours up at the Pacifica Department of Public Works office at 151 Milagra Drive. More information is available here.

  • Youth Volunteer Opportunities - Leaders In Training Education and Swimmer Aides
  1. Leaders in Training Education (LITE): The Leaders in Training Education (LITE) program is a program designed to give youth ages 13-17 the opportunity to volunteer their time working at special events and youth programs sponsored by the Parks, Beaches & Recreation department. With the help of the PB&R staff, the LITEs are exposed to experiences to learn leadership roles, job training, become involved with their community and earn community service hours. The hope is that this experience will bridge the gap between volunteerism and first time jobs for participants. The application deadline for LITE applications has been extended to June 1. Please contact Sydney Bliss, recreation coordinator, at 738-7376. An application and more information can be found here.
  2. Swimmer Aides: A swimmer aide is interested in working with children, volunteering of their time and learning how to teach swimming.
