This lecture will examine the dissemination of Chinese books (kanseki) in premodern Korea and Japan through the transmission of the titles of classical works. A comparative analysis of Chinese, Korean, and Japanese book titles reveals influence of kanseki and offers a new vantage on "Japanese" literature.
