Anything Good:
Follow Me Sermon Series
Sunday, January 17 @ 11 am
Come and see! Good things are happening. We simply need the eyes and the heart to see them. This Sunday we will explore two call stories -- the story of Samuel and the story of Nathanael. When the boy Samuel was serving in the temple the word of the Lord was rare. No wonder it took three times before Eli realized the Lord was trying to speak to Samuel -- no one had heard much from God recently (or no one was listening). Many years later, Nathanael wondered if anything good could come out of Nazareth, and yet he accepted Philip's invitation to come and see. In both stories we recognize the ways we get stuck in our expectations -- expectations of God, expectations of our community, expectations of ourselves. And still, God shows up, hearts are changed, and we are transformed. So come and see what God is doing this Sunday at 11 o'clock. Come and worship Christ, the newborn King, the Light of the World.

Ways to Worship
Sundays @ 11 am
As the rate of COVID-19 infections soars, we have made the difficult decision to cease all indoor gatherings. There is no question that this is hard for all of us. We are accustomed to gathering in our sanctuary, we enjoy spending time together, we love singing God’s praises and passing the peace, and we deeply value learning together and sharing meals. At the same time, we know that it is simply not safe to gather right now. So for this season we are skipping gathering in person so that there will be many other seasons when all of us can gather in person.
We encourage you to participate in one or more of the following ways:
Drive-In Church: Starting this Sunday, you will be able to participate in worship from the parking lot by tuning in on your FM radio. Come as you are, stay in your car, and experience community in a new way! BJ is working on details, so stay tuned.
FaceBook and Zoom: We encourage you to continue to connect for worship online. Feel free to use the chat feature to greet one another and share the peace of Christ during the service. Please join us on Zoom or FaceBook this Sunday at 11 o'clock:
Help Lead Worship: Participate in worship by reading scripture, sharing a story, and/or providing a musical offering. Contact Pastor Sue if you’d like to participate in this way.
Pray: We cannot underestimate the power of prayer during this season. Pray for one another daily. Pray for our community and our world.
Thank you for your supporting the mission and ministries of Saxapahaw UMC. Tithes and offerings may be given by mail, in the offering boxes, or via secure form on our website.

We Need Your Pictures!
We've decided that, instead of altar flowers, we are going to adorn the altar with pictures of our faith community so we can "see" each other.
Please submit pictures electronically or bring a recent picture of you and your family to the church and place it on the altar. You are welcome to include a frame for your picture or we can provide one.

Support Stone Soup Menus
Stone Soup Menus is a place where ALL community comes together to help those in need with a focus on Senior Citizens and families who need a little extra support from their neighbors. This group, which began shortly after COVID hit, is designed to be a catalyst for identifying the needs in our community without prejudice or judgment while providing anonymity to those whom we are able to help. This group will focus on providing meals to supplement low income households and connect resources when needed.
With the help of 100 to 150 people and four churches, Stone Soup Menus distributes more than 1,000 free meals every week to people in need around Alamance County.
Please consider donating to Stone Soup Menus. SAFE has been supporting Stone Soup Menus since they opened their doors. Since COVID hit, Mary Casey and her amazing teams have managed to humbly prepare, deliver, and serve this community almost 50,000 meals. There is so much to say about the care, commitment, and honor felt by many through this work and on every level humanity is seen and understood.
To donate, visit the Saxapahaw UMC website https://www.saxumc.org/giving-1 and choose the Stone Stoup Menus option in the secure form or mail/drop by a check at the church made out to Saxapahaw UMC with Stone Soup Menus in memo line.

COVID-19 Vaccine
Phase 1b Update
The Alamance County Health Department has begun taking appointments for individuals in Phase 1b, Group 1- Adults 75 and over, and any first responders and healthcare workers that were unable to get vaccinated during Phase 1a. Eligible community members will be able to schedule an appointment for their first dose vaccination Monday-Friday from 8:30am until 4:30pm, or until all appointment slots are full, by calling 336-290-0650. During the month of January, vaccinations will be administered at the Career and Technical Education Center (CTEC) located at 2550 Buckingham Road in Burlington. Please share this with your congregation members who may qualify. Anyone in need of a second dose will be contacted directly and told where to go and when.
Due to our current vaccine supply we will only be scheduling appointments one day at a time. We are unable to provide preferred appointment times. Please understand that we may not have enough appointments to meet current demand. Please continue to visit this website for the most up-to date information https://www.alamance-nc.com/healthdept/covid-19-information/vaccine-information/. Because there is not enough vaccine to offer to everyone at this time, the vaccine is being distributed in phases. ACHD will distribute vaccine as we receive it and appointments will be updated as additional vaccine becomes available.
You are not eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine if:
- You have received another vaccine in the last 14-days (example: flu shot, shingles, tetanus, etc.)
- You currently have a positive test for COVID-19. The vaccine must be deferred until you have recovered from the acute illness and the criteria has been met for you to discontinue isolation.
- You have received passive antibody therapy (monoclonal antibodies or convalescent serum) as treatment for COVID-19 within the past 90 days
