Weekly letter from Deacon Rick Wagner
This will be my final letter of the school year, so I would like to take this opportunity to thank the people who make Bishop Chatard such a great community.

Thank you, Mrs. Roell!
On Wednesday, May 23, at an end-of-the-year staff lunch, Ruth Roell was honored by faculty, staff and administration for 43 years of teaching at Bishop Chatard. Thank you, Mrs. Roell! You will be missed, and we wish you all the best in your retirement!
Important Business Office information
Citizenship Grant Summer Work (formerly summer work study)
Families who applied for the Citizenship Grant Summer Work Program will be notified later this week and next week (no later than June 1) if they have been selected into the program. 

Financial Aid Awards
All FACTS applications completed between March 1 and May 11 have been processed and awards have been finalized. Award letters will be included with 2018/2019 Tuition Statement packets, which are being mailed on Friday, May 25. 
BCHS community invited to attend 500 Parade, with appearance by Bishop Chatard graduate Doug Jones '78
Join us as we cheer on Bishop Chatard’s own Doug Jones in the  IPL 500 Festival Parade   this Saturday! From the class of ’78, Doug is being recognized for his achievements in film, notably his recent portrayal in the Oscar-winning Best Picture  The Shape of Water . Bring the family downtown and experience race weekend as Doug will be joined by larger than life balloons, bands, floats and more!

Student Volunteers needed for St. Simon Festival
June 7 and 8
St. Simon is continuing the tradition of having BCHS students help with activities at the St. Simon Festival. To sign up, click here . When signing up, scroll down to "obstacle course" and you will see a section that says "Chatard students." Please select one of these shifts. Thank you for your help and support for North Deanery Parish, St. Simon.

Memorial Day Event hosted by student, Mea Weybright
All are invited to attend an event May 28 to celebrate the lives of our loved ones who have passed. If you are interested, please RSVP and get details here . Please bring a picture of your loved one to be displayed at the event as well as a favorite dish or dessert to share.
2018-19 Sports Physical Night
Monday, June 4 ~ 6 - 8 p.m.
Sports Physicals are required for ALL athletes participating in IHSAA and club sports at Bishop Chatard. Sports Physicals for the 2018-2019 school year will be given on Monday, June 4, from 6 - 8 p.m. The physicals are administered by St. Vincent Sports Medicine. The cost is $30 (of which $10 will support BCHS Athletics). Only checks, payable to BCHS or cash will be accepted.

Incoming and current students are strongly encouraged to attend. This physical is valid for the entire school year. ALL PHYSICALS MUST BE GIVEN AFTER 
APRIL 1, 2018, IN ORDER TO BE VALID FOR THE 2018-19 SCHOOL YEAR. 
BCHS Used Uniform Sale
Monday, June 4 ~ 5 - 7 p.m.
BCHS Cafeteria
Bishop Chatard will hold its annual used uniform sale June 4 from 5 to 7 p.m. Shirts, sweatshirts, shorts and pants will be available for $5 each and spirit wear from $1 - $5.

Donations of used uniforms and spiritwear are GREATLY needed. Senior parents, we would appreciate you going through your BCHS uniforms and spirit wear to see what you are willing to donate to other BCHS families. Please bring any donations in a bag marked "Used Uniform Sale" to the athletic office.

Volunteers are also needed for the sale between 3 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Please contact Cathy Nickerson if you can help at 317-403-4740 or canickerson@sbcglobal.net .
Important Message for all BCHS Parents
The Bishop Chatard Guidance and School Counseling Office would like to make you aware, if you are not already, of the popular Netflix original series "13 Reasons Why." The rating for this show is TV-MA, which cautions that it is not suitable for children under 17. We are aware of its recent popularity among middle school and high school-age students. You may recall the first season was released last year and the second season is due to be released this month.  Read the entire letter here.

Holy Land Pilgrimage
Bishop Chatard, along with Verso Ministries, is planning a pilgrimage to the Holy Land for Bishop Chatard and North Deanery students, parents and friends December 27, 2018, to January 5, 2019. This journey will be led by BCHS chaplain, Fr. Doug Hunter.

Register now for BCHS Summer Camps - spots are filling quickly!
Bishop Chatard High School offers a variety of camps that encourage 1st through 8th grade students to explore new interests, challenge their imaginations and hone current skills. The deadline to register for this summer is rapidly approaching! Visit  www.bishopchatard.org/camps/   to learn about the camps being offered and to register.
SAT Prep: Math Workshop by College Tudors and Nannies
July 11, 18 & 25 from 9 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
The Summer Workshop is a three-week class consisting of 10.5 hours of SAT math preparation and will incorporate lessons and strategies designed to help students succeed in taking the SAT test this fall. Each workshop includes:
  • Initial math practice test to assess current test level and identify needed focus areas
  • Test at end of workshop to assess progress and remaining gaps needing additional focus
  • Comprehensive Gap Analysis conducted with our partner, Summit Education Group
  • Individual, 1:1 assessments and strategy building
  • Dr. Steve Warner's 320 SAT Math Problems book
  • 10.5 hours of SAT Math Prep:
  • Heart of Algebra
  • Passport to Advanced Math
  • Problem Solving & Data Analysis
  • Geometry 
  • Trigonometry 
Students taking the SAT this fall should find this workshop to be very helpful. The first SAT Math practice test is June 23 at 9 a.m. at the College Tudors' Learning Center in Nora Plaza. Workshop dates are July 11, 18, and 25, from 9 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. The final assessment test is July 28. Workshop fee is $349/student.
