  • Join in the Town of Wilton's Guess the Weight of the Recyclables activity at Wilton Library starting November 11 and ending on America Recycles Day, November 15. Submit a guess for the weight of the recyclables bag on display in the library gallery. A Wilton Chamber of Commerce gift certificate will be awarded for the closest guess.

Call for Entries -- 2019 How Sweet It Is in Wilton Gingerbread House Contest
Entry drop off: Sunday, December 1, from 1 - 4:30pm OR
Monday, December 2, from 10am - 7:30pm
Wilton Library and the Wilton Chamber of Commerce invite families,   individuals,  organizations   and  businesses to submit gingerbread or other edible models of Wilton houses or buildings to be put on display in the library. This year, in conjunction with Wilton Library's 125th anniversary, the theme is celebrating the past, present and future of Wilton . Entries will be judged in two age groups -- 12 & under and ages 13 to adult. Judges will choose winners from three categories: 
  • Most whimsical
  • Most visionary Wilton place
  • Best historical Wilton place 

From Dec. 3-16, visitors to the library also can vote for their favorite models. Winners will be announced Dec. 18. Winning submissions including the Community Favorite will be awarded Wilton Chamber gift certificates. Entries will remain on display through Dec. 22. Gingerbread Winner Tells All: Tips & Techniques

Come learn from an expert, Tina Duncan, one of the 2018 "How Sweet It Is In Wilton" Gingerbread Contest winners. Learn assembly tips, frosting hints and decorating techniques. Ages 18+. Materials provided by the library. Small class size for hands-on learning. No charge. More info & register
Author Talk: Steve Gillon - America's Reluctant Prince: The Life of John F. Kennedy, Jr.

Through the lens of their decades-long friendship and including exclusive interviews and details from previously classified documents, noted historian and bestselling author Steven M. Gillon examines John F. Kennedy Jr.'s life and legacy from before his birth to the day he died. In America's Reluctant Prince, Gillon covers the highs, the lows, and the surprising incidents, viewpoints, and relationships that John never discussed publicly, revealing the full story behind JFK Jr.'s complicated and rich life. Q&A will follow the talk. Gillon is the scholar-in-residence at the History Channel and a professor of history at the University of Oklahoma. No charge.  More info & register

Destroy Your Hard Drive Fundraiser
Saturday, November 16 from 10am to 2pm 
Are you looking to get rid of your old computer, but worried about all the personal information stored on it? Bring your whole computer to Wilton Library and Singularity Technology, Wilton Library's Robotics Team, will take it apart for you and destroy your hard drive. You can wait and watch or just drop and go! This is a team fundraiser. $20 minimum donation per computer. Receipts provided.  More info
A Harvest of Hues Art Exhibition and Reception
Friday, November 15 @6pm
A collection of seven area artists will be showcased in Wilton Library's November/December art exhibition, "A Harvest of Hues." The artists are Randi Jane Davis, Ridgefield; Drew Lambert, Wilton; Cynthia Mullins, Ridgefield; Kelly Rossetti, Westport; Dennis Stevens, Norwalk; Trish Wend, Ridgefield; and Susan Acker Yun, Westport, formerly Wilton. Reception is free and open to the public. Exhibition runs through January 2, 2020. A majority of the works will be available for purchase with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the library. With education costs rising year after year, paying for college is a concern for most families. In this workshop, you'll learn about which colleges offer the best financial aid, how to avoid mistakes on the FAFSA and CSS profile, how students can receive more free money and fewer loans, why private universities can cost less than a state school, and how families of all income levels may be eligible for financial aid. Presented by Sean Flynn, a financial advisor and certified college planning specialist, and Sean Martin, Director of Aid for Connecticut College.
