Silent Night Candle Lighting Videos

In the special Christmas Video that we sent to you at noon today, I shared with you an opportunity to help us create something special. One of my favorite things at our Christmas Eve service is at the end when we sing Silent Night and all of us light a candle and we turn the lights out. I love seeing your faces illuminated by candles - the light of Christ.

Can you help us create that image remotely for our Christmas eve online worship video this year? It will take you about 5-10 minutes. All you need is an iphone or android phone that takes videos. In the Christmas video (link below) 3.5 minutes in, you will see in the top corner of the video an example of what I am talking about. You can submit a video for each person in your family, or you can hold the phone up to capture two of you on one video or even the whole family. Personally, I think one video per individual is best so we can better see your beautiful faces!

Record the video for 1 minute. You don't need to sing or talk. Just smile and look into the camera and do your best to have the candle light illuminate your face. Then, email the video file to Dustin Smith at [email protected]

But, in order for Dustin to have enough time to edit all of our videos into one collage of candle lit faces during Silent Night, you need to email your file to Dustin by Monday night, 12/14/20.

One more opportunity to consider. Think of a person in the church who likely does not get our emails and/or who does not have a smart phone that can take videos or perhaps someone who has a smart phone but would have difficulty emailing the file to Dustin. Give that person a call and offer to stop by and record the video for them on your own smart phone. Make sure you explain that you would stand outside at their front door, 6-feet away and only stay long enough to record the video (1-minute) and to say hello (2-5 minutes).

I'd love to hear from you to get a sense of who all is participating. The more the merrier! AND, since we welcome everyone and often get a lot of guests at our Christmas Eve Services, you can invite anyone to participate! Especially welcome videos from your extended family members and those young adults who have moved away!

I can't wait to see your illuminated faces at our Christmas Eve Service online!

Grace and Peace,
