ELEMENTARY RETURNS TO FULL IN-PERSON LEARNING
JANUARY 5, 2021
As you are aware, the Board of Education approved a return to full in-person learning for elementary students starting Tuesday, January 5.

We are excited to have students back after winter break! Please know that we will continue to implement safety measures adopted earlier this year. Students will continue to wear masks in school and remain with their class during lunch and recess. Parents are still required to wear masks and socially distance at all times while on school grounds. This includes the parking lot and sidewalks. Click here for a more detailed list of daily safety precautions.

All elementary schools will continue to comply with quarantine guidelines outlined by the Tri-County Health Department. The school will continue to inform you via email of positive COVID cases at Gold Rush. You will receive additional communication if your child was in close contact with an individual who tests positive or is demonstrating significant COVID like symptoms. If you have more than one child at Gold Rush, you will recall District communication does not clearly specify which child is directly impacted. The school will send a third email clarifying the affected classroom/grade level and your child's learning plan.

We will continue to send student devices home daily. A copy of your child’s current quarantine schedule will be in his/her technology folder. Please note that some grade levels are tweaking their current schedule after teaching virtually this month. Schedules may look slightly different in January based on these revisions.

We will also provide materials and instruction for individual students that the school identifies as needing to quarantine. This applies to individual students who are healthy, but cannot be at school with their class because they were in close contact with someone who tested positive. Students in this position at kindergarten through second grade will see weekly assignments in their Google classroom. Students in third through fifth grade will be able to join live reading, writing and math mini lessons via Google Meets. Unfortunately we are only able to provide this support for students who the school identifies as needing to quarantine. Our efforts to accommodate families that choose to quarantine proved unmanageable this fall. We also know that students who are sick need time to rest and recover.

As always, we appreciate your cooperation and continued support. Please feel free to reach out to your child’s teacher or the office if you have specific questions or concerns.
ELEMENTARY PROGRESS REPORTS (EPR)
RELEASED DECEMBER 19

Teachers are celebrating students’ growth as they complete fall Elementary School Progress Reports (EPRs).  EPRs will be released to parents on Saturday, December 19th, through Parent Portal.  See directions for accessing Parent Portal below.

Your child's report card includes grades for content and learner characteristics. You are able to view your child's information two ways - a highlight view and a comprehensive view. The highlights view includes a snapshot of how your child performed on core content standards (reading, writing and math) and how your child met school expectations of Going for the G.O.L.D. The highlights view also includes general classroom comments and individual student comments.

The comprehensive view includes information on all four elements of the District’s guaranteed and viable curriculum in all subject areas, including social studies, science and specials. The comprehensive view may also include additional content comments aligned to specific content standards. You are able to access both views by clicking on the links at the top right portion of the screen.
