TBK Delegation To Walk in the
Rochester Pride Parade!
Saturday July 21 at 1:00 pm
I look forward to joining with you in the Pride Parade this Saturday afternoon. Here’s some information on the logistics for joining in our delegation.
We will finish Shabbat services by noon and head straight to the parade. If you are interested in carpooling, please plan to be at temple by 11:45 (or better yet, come to services at 10:30). Casual dress is fine if you do come to the service.
The parade steps off at 1:00, so we will have plenty of time to arrive, but we will depart shortly after 12 to give us time to check in and find our spot.
The lineup happens on Alexander Street. I haven’t yet gotten our specific spot along Alexander, but I can tell you that we are spot #97.  So, if you come to the corner of Park and Alexander, you should be able to look down the row of marchers to find us. If I do get notice about a specific location along Alexander, I will send another message.
I will have brightly colored TBK hats for everyone, and we have a brand new TBK banner to hold and display during the parade.
If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to be in touch. My cell is 585-978-5770. Feel free to text or call on Saturday if you are having trouble finding us or need other information.  Rabbi Stein

A Message from
Rabbi Stein
This week we turn to the first portion in the book of Deuteronomy. One scholar described this book in the following way, “Deuteronomy may well be the first book to pose the problem of modernity. Its authors struggled with issues conventionally viewed as exclusively modern ones, such as the historical distance between past and present, the tension between tradition and the needs of the contemporary generation, and the distinction between divine revelation and human interpretation.  Seen from this perspective, ancient Israel’s Deuteronomy becomes a remarkably contemporary text, one that challenges its readers to rethink their assumptions about time, about Scripture, and about religion. (Professor Bernard M. Levinson)
