Folsom's New City Manager
Meet Elaine Andersen, Folsom’s new city manager effective today. As city manager, Elaine is responsible for implementing the policies and goals of the City Council, providing leadership for all city departments, and managing the city’s day-to-day operations. 

“I’ve called Folsom home for nearly 30 years and have worked for the city for more than a decade. I’m incredibly proud to serve the community I love and look forward to continuing to provide the best possible programs, services, and amenities to our community,” Elaine said. “I am deeply honored to serve Folsom in this special way and want to thank the Folsom City Council for their support and confidence in me.”

Register for the Wacky Dash
End your summer on a wet and wild note at the Wacky Dash obstacle course challenge Saturday, August 4 at Rodeo Park. The 1.5-mile family-friendly course features mud pits, balance beams, tightropes, water slides, giant inflatables, a foam tunnel and other fun surprises. Tackle the course as an individual or form a team with your friends, family and co-workers. Zany and colorful attire is encouraged, and all registered participants take home a colorful custom medal to commemorate your accomplishment!

Folsom Public Library Hosts Blood Drive
Did you know one donation can potentially save up to three lives? With someone in the U.S. needing blood every 2 seconds, it’s vital to get support from blood donors. The Folsom Public Library will host a local blood drive Tuesday, August 14 from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Enter the blood drive code: D327 when registering.

General Election Filing for City Council Starts Today
The City of Folsom's General Municipal Election will be held on November 6, 2018. Registered voters in the City of Folsom will have the opportunity to elect three councilmembers to the five-member City Council, for a term of four years each. These three seats are currently held by incumbents Mayor Steve Miklos, Councilmember Andy Morin and Councilmember Kerri Howell. The remaining seats are occupied by Vice Mayor Ernie Sheldon and Councilmember Roger Gaylord.
 
The filing period for Folsom residents interested in running in the 2018 Folsom City Council election opens Monday, July 16 and will continue through Friday, August 10. Only resident registered voters of the City of Folsom are eligible to run for the Folsom City Council.  

Individuals interested in running for the City Council should contact the Folsom City Clerk’s Department by email at cfreemantle@folsom.ca.us or by phone at 916-461-6035 to schedule an appointment to receive nomination papers.
Summer Concert in the Park Friday
The free summer concert series at City Lions Park continues 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, July 20 featuring the classic rock band Have Mercy. Bring a picnic or purchase food and beverages on-site from a variety of food trucks.

New Bust Stop Seating
With the support of a grant from the Sacramento Metropolitan Air Quality Management District, the City of Folsom recently completed the installation of new seating at twelve local bus stops. The new seats provide a safe and comfortable place to catch the bus without blocking movement along the sidewalk.
Making the Most of Your Landscape
Join Cheryl Buckwalter to learn about water-efficient landscape practices Wednesday, July 25 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Folsom Community Center, 52 Natoma Street.

Park Maintenance at Folsom Playgrounds
Park maintenance will be performed on the following park play structures July 16-20:
  • Ernie Sheldon Youth Sports Park
  • Handy Family Park
  • Mann Family Park
  • Nisenan Community Park
This maintenance will require the play structures to be out of service.
