CASA Hosts Successful Washington D.C. Policy Forum
T he timing of our 2018 Washington D. C. policy forum could not have been better. This year Congress may consider a critical infrastructure package and an Administration proposal with many of CASA’s top priorities. Last week nearly 50 agency members joined us on Capitol Hill to hear about the new political landscape and to advocate for California wastewater interests.

Attendees met with over 30 members of the California Congressional delegation and legislative staff to urge enhanced infrastructure funding, extension of NPDES permit terms and regulatory reform and streamlining. Several groups also visited personally with their members of Congress to discuss CASA’s priorities as well as their own.

Legislative Updates
State Legislative Committee to Consider Bill Positions
Our state legislative committee will meet March 16 to determine our legislative priorities for the year. Committee members will review and consider nearly 100 of the 2,341 bills introduced in the 2018 legislative session. The bills relate to water quality, local government, renewable energy, climate change and other issues of interest to wastewater. The legislature will begin hearing bills as early as mid-March. Policy committee hearings for nearly all the bills will occur in April and May.
