  Class of 2018 Cheered On!

Graduates Inspire Young Students

Graduating Logan High School seniors were cheered on as they marched through the halls of Northside Elementary School/Coulee Montessori (below) to celebrate their accomplishments and show their pride. The young st udents were eager to "hi-five" the seniors.

Logan students walked the six blocks in cap and gown from the high school to Northside  as cars honked and drivers waved in support of the graduates. After the march, the students gathered in the commons for the presentation to honor the graduating Class of 2018. The soon-to-be graduates then went out into classrooms and read stories to the elementary students and answer questions.

At Spence Elementary (left) on May 23, seniors from Central High School also marched proudly through the neighborhood to the school to spread inspiration to the students there. They talked about their future plans and fielded questions from the youngsters. One piece of advice from a Central student to the Spence students:
"Sports and music are great and important. But your studies always come first." Another Central student said, "Be nice to everyone and make as many friends as you can."

The events were hosted by La Crosse Promise, Northside Elementary, Spence Elementary School, and Central and Logan High Schools.

"We want our elementary students to be excited about the future and the possibilities it holds. High school seems like a long time away for most of these children. Getting to see our district's graduates gives our younger students a glimpse forward, to what they can accomplish."

~ Laura Huber, Northside Elementary Principal

The K-5 students shared their dreams for the future and asked the graduates what they can do to achieve them.

Congratulations to the Class of 2018 on your graduation and thank you for showing the young students "how it's done!"
