CDSP Confers D.Div. on Bishop Barry Beisner
Bishop Barry, a 1978 graduate of Church Divinity School of the Pacific, was honored for his work in the church and community with an honorary degree on Friday, May 18, at commencement in Berkeley. Among the graduates were the Rev. Stephen Shaver, called to be rector at Incarnation, Santa Rosa, who received his Ph.D. from the Graduate Theological Union; and the Rev. Jana Branson, St. Luke's, Auburn, who received her Master of Divinity degree.
The Rt. Rev. Beisner, center, is flanked by the Rev. Don White, president of the CDSP board of trustees, and the Rt. Rev. Marc Andrus of the Diocese of California.

Bishop's England Pilgrimage for 2019
The holy sites of southern England will come alive for the group of pilgrims that can join Bishop Barrry Beisner and the Rev. Ann Hallisey for two weeks next spring.
"Ann and I will be leading a final, farewell, diocesan pilgrimage in 2019, this time to that
other (for Anglicans) holy land, England. We will explore southern England, and focus on the English roots our Church's spirituality, worship, and belief. The itinerary includes Canterbury, Bury St. Edmunds, Norwich, Cambridge, Oxford, London, Salisbury, and Winchester. The dates are April 25 - May 7; approximate cost will be $4,000 (including air fare). A complete brochure will be available in June."

Northern California Joins Poor People's Campaign
A nationwide revival of an effort inspired by Martin Luther King Jr., the Poor People's Campaign, came to the steps of the state Capitol on Monday, May 14, as people rallied in support of the immigrants among us. Another protest on May 21 that sought to talk to Gov. Jerry Brown about criminal justice reform and poverty ended in 18 arrests Monday night when they wouldn't leave the building, according to the group's Facebook page. Most of protesters were released Tuesday morning, and the police charged five with misdemeanors.
Last month, hundreds of people of all faiths and races packed Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, Sacramento, as the organizers planned a series of events.
Through nonviolent protests and a variety of other mobilizing strategies, thousands across the country will be taking part in a 40-day effort of intense advocacy.
King started the idea of the Poor People's Campaign back in 1968 to help in the fight against poverty and economic injustice. He helped mobilize a 3,000 person protest on the Washington Mall for six weeks. But after his April 4, 1968 assassination
, the movement lost momentum. Fifty years later, there's a new energy to push for a fairer society. The Poor People's Campaign plans a mass march in Washington, D.C., on June 23.

St. John's, Chico, Hosts Rise Against Hunger Food Packing
The Rev. Aidan Rontani, assistant rector at St. John's, Chico, and Alta California deanery curate, coordinated a Rise Against Hunger food packing event "with some of our neighboring congregations here in the North Valley," he said. St. James, Yuba City; St. Nicholas, Paradise; St. Michael's, Anderson; St. Paul's, Oroville; and Holy Trinity, Willows participated.
Rotani thanked the congregations "for being a part of this worthwhile effort and to all the volunteers from St. John's who helped make this happen. Together we packed over 10,000 meals for global famine relief. A bit of fun, and a chance to make a difference in the world."

Faith, Cameron Park, Offers Ecumenical Walks This Summer
Cameron Park Lake will be the setting for a series of relaxing, nourishing and fun Spirit Walks with people of faith. Says the Rev. Sonya Reichel, "We will learn and experience a variety of meditative walks. These practices will help still your mind, calm your body, and refresh your spirit. Each walk will last no more than 45 minutes. Each week stands alone and does not require any previous knowledge or participation."
She adds: "Furry friends on leashes are welcome to join us - they have a lot to teach us about remaining joyfully in the present moment!"
The walks will be:
Fridays at 10 a.m. on June 1, 8, 15 and 22
Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. on July 5, 12, 19 and 25

Incarnation 100 Bike Ride: June 9
The streets of Sonoma County will be filled with bicyclists on Saturday, June 9, to raise money for homeless services. Avid and casual riders are welcome; the routes range from 30-100 miles.
This is the fourth annual ride sponsored by Incarnation, Santa Rosa. Last year's ride, which raised $17,000, attracted more than 200 cyclists.
Volunteers are needed to help in a variety of capacities.

The House of Bishops is inviting Episcopalians to "share reflections on sexual harassment, abuse and exploitation" ahead of a planned General Convention listening session titled "Pastoral Response to #MeToo."
A selection of the reflections, with no names attached, will be read as part of the liturgy included in the sessions, Presiding Bishop Michael Curry and Bishop Mary Gray-Reeves of El Camino Real, vice-president of the House of Bishops, said in a May 4 letter to the Episcopal Church.
The House of Bishop's Pastoral Response "will focus on listening, liturgy and steps for healing," according to the
press release issued with the letter
. It will take place Wednesday, July 4, 5:15 to 7 p.m. CDT. Those not attending the General Convention in Austin, Texas, will be able to participate remotely via live webcast. Read more here.
