This Week at BJBE
July 16,  2018
A Note from Sally Sachar, Executive Director

Greetings All,

We hope your July continues to go well. We are very busy at BJBE on numerous fronts, all in service to improving and enhancing our community experience. I want to flag a few matters for you today.

First, I want to clarify something about our new Sustaining Gifts Program, which features several new levels of giving, ranging from $1000 and under to $10,000 and above --  with benefits commensurate at each giving level range. To clarify, please note the following regarding the different levels : the Visionaries level relates to all gifts $10,000 and up; Pillars relates to gifts from $5,400 to $9,999; Guardians level relates to those who give from $3,600 to $5399; Builders benefits relate to those who give from $1800 to $3599; Friends benefits relate to those who give $1000 and under. Click here to view the revised documents for more clarity. Our Sustaining Gifts Program is a cornerstone of ensuring the fiscal health of BJBE .  We very much hope you will enjoy this new program and will choose to participate. If you have questions, feel free to write our Co-PresidentsTodd Cohan, or me.

Second, you should have received an email from us last Thursday, launching our new online portal for our members, ShulCloud.  If you have any questions whatsoever about how to login and get started with your account, please contact our office.  Also, we encourage you to come to our information/get help sessions which are scheduled for the following dates:
  • Wednesday, July 18 from 5-7pm,
  • Thursday, July 19 from 2-4pm,
  • Tuesday, July 24 from 10am-12pm, and
  • Thursday, July 26 from 2-4pm.
Third, you will be receiving your High Holy Day mailing later this week.  We hope the package is self-explanatory (we tried to make it as understandable as possible), but please don't hesitate to call our office with questions.

Fourth, we very much hope you will join us at our Post-Camp/Drop Off Happy Hour at BJBE tomorrow, July 17, at 7 pm. Any and all are welcome (whether or not you've dropped your children/grandchildren at camp). RSVP here.

Finally - if you've been thinking about making some Amazon Prime purchases, the next 36 hours is the best time to do so.  First of all, starting earlier today, Amazon is offering major specials on numerous products (think of it as the moral equivalent of Black Friday on Amazon), but also if you shop through Amazon Smile, BJBE gets a percentage donation directly to us. So you get your purchases at a discount, and we benefit at the same time. A Win Win!

Have a wonderful week.

JCFS School Supply Drive
For many of the  families served by JCFS (Jewish Child and Family Services),  the expense of preparing a child for the new school year is beyond their means. These caring parents value education - they want to see their children enter the new school year prepared and proud.

BJBE's Early Childhood Program at the Chava Center and Sisterhood are joining together to support the JCFS School Supply Drive. During the month of July we will be collecting the following items:
Solid Colored Backpacks   |    Pens/Pencils   |    Crayons/Colored Pencils
Erasers/GlueSticks   |    Washable Markers/Highlighters   |   Folders
Spiral Notebooks/Loose Leaf Paper   |    Rulers/Scissors

A collection box is in the tzedakah niche.  To make a monetary donation or if you have questions, please contact Sharon Sabin

Looking for a Mitzvah opportunity?  Here's a double for you...Tikkun Olam + Tzedakah.   By making a $120-$140 donation to the Project Nourish Fund, you, your friends, chavurah, or group can provide a month's worth of fruit during our summer months (May-September).  For a $50 donation you can supplement one month of our fruit donations from our Religious School families. This  is a great way for you to support Project Nourish even if you can't come to our lunch making sessions.  Please contact Merrilee for more details.
