GSC Faculty E-News for July 2018
The Role of Reflective Practice in Quality Teaching

Each summer we ask all faculty to participate in an online survey, called the Reflective Teaching Analysis , to explore teaching, insights about strengths and accomplishments, and reflect on ways you hope to grow as a teacher.

This information helps us develop or enhance teaching resources and professional development opportunities, and we also hope that it helps you reflect upon and celebrate your good work on behalf of our students.

We've included a link to a recent Teaching in Higher Ed podcast below that explores the topic of reflection and its role in quality teaching. We're also pleased to share the first of many Three-Minute Thursdays that will appear in this monthly e-newsletter. These brief video reflections from fellow GSC faculty provide tools and information about how to easily implement small practice changes that can have a big impact for our students.

And although the Reflective Teaching Analysis only happens once each year, we know that your quality teaching relies on continuous reflection. From planning teaching and learning activities before the start of term and reviewing student course evaluations to being engaged each week and responding to emerging student needs, reflective practice is part of our daily work to help our students succeed.

On behalf of the College, I want to thank you for all you do to embrace that spirit of continuous quality improvement - a hallmark of the GSC educational experience!
With regards,

Dr. Scott Stanley, Provost & Vice President of Academic Affairs

GSC's annual Reflective Teaching Analysis online survey opened last week, w hich asks you to explore your teaching, share insights about your strengths and accomplishments, and describe ways you hope to grow as a teacher.

This information helps us develop or enhance teaching resources, supports, and professional development opportunities, and we also hope that it helps you reflect upon and celebrate your good work on behalf of our students.
