Year-End Giving
York Catholic Fund
We cannot thank you enough for your support over the last year. It is because of our generous alumni, parents, and community friends that we are able to continue to educate our students in an atmosphere of faith, family, and mutual respect, preparing them to serve the global community.

As we begin this new decade, we hope to continue to make a Catholic education possible for more than 600 young men and women, many of whom would not be able to attend without your generosity.  As December 31st approaches, many of you are looking at your charitable giving in terms of tax benefits. We ask you to prayerfully consider YC as a charity of choice for your year-end gifts to our annual York Catholic Fund.

Our annual York Catholic Fund supports every student by enriching extra-curricular programs, music and the arts, professional development for teachers, academic program support, athletic programs, technology, special projects, and operating expenditures. This year, we have a fundraising goal of $300,000 for the York Catholic Fund by June 30, 2020.

December 18.

Coat Drive
The National Honor Society is collecting gently used coats for their Coat Drive. A collection box will be in the lobby until

Toy Drive
Students are currently collecting Christmas presents for the children who are patients at Hershey Medical Center, in remembrance of Jacob Gurreri. Parents of the children at Hershey will be able to choose some gifts and have them "delivered" on Christmas Eve.

Chris Gurreri, a YC graduate, is coordinating this toy drive in memory of his brother Jacob, who was five-years-old when he died. This is the 14th year anniversary of his death.  The Gurreri family was fortunate enough to stay in the Ronald McDonald House during the three weeks that Jacob was being treated at Hershey Medical Center.

The Ronald McDonald House offers the following gift ideas (MUST be new, unwrapped, items in original box):
  • Stuffed animals
  • Coloring books and crayons/markers
  • Books
  • Board games
  • Children's movies
  • Action figures
  • Dolls
  • Legos
  • Christmas stockings with stocking stuffer items
  • Blankets
Students are asked to have all toys to their homerooms by the morning of December 17 at 8:15 AM. Thank you for your generosity this holiday season in helping to make Christmas a little brighter for the children who are in the hospital.

Emergency Notification
Notification
During inclement weather that would cause a school closing or delay of schedule, York Catholic will call/text/email you through our One Call Now Emergency Notification system. Other modes of notification include WGAL TV-8, WPMT Fox43, and the YC website. Students from individual school districts are automatically excused if their district closes and does not provide transportation to YCHS. The exceptions to this are Southern and Southeastern. These students follow York Catholic's delay and closing schedule.

Text Option Requires Your Action
In preparation for the colder months ahead, we have updated our "One Call Now" Emergency Notification System.  In the event our school schedule is adjusted due to weather, a phone call and an email will be sent to the contact information we have on file.

A text option is also available.  If you opted-in to receive text messages last school year, you do not need to do anything additional.  If you did not receive text messages last year and would like to, or you are new to our school, you must "opt-in" to receive text notification.

To do so, text the word ALERT to the number 22300.
Do not include any words other than the word ALERT.

After doing so, you will no longer receive a phone call at that number and will only receive a text message.

If you do not want to receive text notification, you do not have to do anything.  Your phone number and email address from our Vision system have automatically been entered into the One Call Now system.
