Outgoing, helpful volunteers are needed for weekdays and weekends at the Real Racine Visitor Center, 14015 Washington Ave. (just west of the I-94/Hwy. 20 interchange).
You will meet new people, and help with a variety of tasks. No computer work! You pick the four-hour shift (9 a.m. to 1 p.m. or 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.) and the day you wish to volunteer. Ideal for retirees!!

Burlington ChocolateFest
A weekend of fun
Unwrap Your Chocolate Power! is the theme of the 2018 Burlington ChocolateFest. This family-friendly event runs Friday, May 25 through Monday (Memorial Day), May 28 at the Festival Grounds, 681 Maryland Ave.
As usual, ChocolateFest has everything a chocolate fan could dream of! The Chocolate Experience tent includes a celebrity chef challenge (Friday), chocolate sampling, cooking demonstrations, chocolate eating contests, chocolate sculpting (Saturday and Sunday) and family games.
The Burlington Rotary Carnival midway opens Thursday (May 24) with free admission from 5 to 10 p.m. The high school battle of the bands runs from 6 to 9 p.m. and wristband ride specials are all evening.
ChocolateFest weekend also includes fireworks (Friday night), live music, helicopter rides, the Miss Burlington Area ChocolateFest pageant (Saturday afternoon), the All-American Lumberjack Show, hypnotist Chris Jones, Granpa Cratchet, petting zoo, commercial expo tent and more!

2017 local visitor spending sets record
Visitors to Racine County spent a record $236.7 million in 2017, according to research conducted by Tourism Economics.
The report showed a 3.2 percent increase in visitor spending compared with 2016. The county's previous visitor spending record of $232.3 million was set in 2015. The new report shows that tourism supported 4,025 local jobs contributing $112.1 million in personal income. Those jobs generated $27 million in state and local taxes last year.

The inclusion of Racine County to the officially designated Frank Lloyd Trail had a positive effect that will be felt for years to come. The 200-mile trail self-guided motor route takes visitors to nine Frank Lloyd Wright-designed sites. Three sites are in Racine County: the SC Johnson Administration Building and Research Tower in Racine and the Wingspread home in Wind Point.
The local tourism industry also saw a big boost from the Antique & Classic Boat Society annual meeting and boat show held at ReefPoint Marina last September.
The Wisconsin Department of Tourism reported that statewide visitor spending last year hit $12.7 billion, a 3.2 percent increase from 2016. Tourism supported 195,255 jobs that accounted for nearly $5.4 billion in personal income.
The Department of Tourism works with
international research firms Tourism Economics and Longwoods International. The 2017 economic impact report was released for National Travel and Tourism Week, May 6-12.

The free tours include the Frank Lloyd Wright-designed SC Johnson Administration Building and the adjacent Wright-designed Research Tower. Visitors will also see the Golden Rondelle, which was the company's pavilion at the 1964-65 New York World's Fair. The tour also includes Fortaleza Hall that features a replica of a Sikorsky S-38 amphibious aircraft that was used to recreate H.F. Johnson Jr.'s 1930s expedition to Fortaleza, Brazil to study the carnauba palm, a key ingredient in the company's floor and furniture care products. Fortaleza Hall also includes the S.C. Johnson Gallery: At Home With Frank Lloyd Wright and a gift shop.
Showings of the documentary film "Carnauba: A Son's Memoir" are offered at 1 p.m. on Sundays.
Visitors may also tour Wingpread, a 14,000-square-foot Prairie-style home that Wright designed for H.F. Johnson Jr. Located at 33 E. Four Mile Road in the Village of Wind Point, the property is now a conference center. Tours can be booked at 262-681-3353 or at
