PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
Dear Colleagues:
We have had several changes in support staff and board members that need to be announced.
First,
Lynsey Bosch has served as Administrative Assistant over the last several years and has provided outstanding service for the College in providing guidance and organization to the Board of Directors, committees, and all the residency candidates. Lynsey is moving into a full-time position with the Translational Medicine Institute at Colorado State University. Thank you, Lynsey, for all that you have done to help provide a stable foundation and smooth operation of the many moving parts of the college.
We are excited to have
Tesha Hoff as the new Administrative Assistant. Tesha has worked for the Veterinary Medical Association Executives for 13 years and has extensive experience in working directly with board of directors and committees, organizing annual conferences, providing membership support, and managing an array of projects and programs. Technology is a specific strength where she has redesigned websites and developed new communication channels for online newsletters. We look forward to working with Tesha and incorporating her ideas for organizational growth and success as a College.
The next transition involves the College representatives to the American Board of Veterinary Specialists (ABVS), which oversees our recognition as a specialty college.
Dr. Andy Kaneps has served in this position for many years and has tirelessly shepherded the College's application through the process for full recognition. We thank Andy for his outstanding service to the College.
Dr. Joe Wakshlag will serve as our ABVS representative for the next 4 years and has already begun the transitional work to familiarize himself with the process and procedures required of this position.
Dr. Rosemary LoGiudice will serve as the alternate ABVS representative for the College.
Finally,
Dr. Joe Spoo will be ending his term as treasurer for the College and
Dr. Sarah le Jeune is our new treasurer. We thank Joe for providing much needed guidance in establishing fiscal procedures and accounting services and look forward to working with Sarah over the next 4 years.
As part of the process to develop strategic plans for the College, the Board of Directors has had extensive discussions about revising and updating the current mission statement. The proposed new mission statement will be sent out to the membership for review and comments along with the College-wide survey, which is still in development.
Thank you to all the members who completed the on-line survey regarding the feasibility of having a stand-alone meeting in the future. We had a good response rate and
Dr. Michael Davis has compiled the results, which have provided useful comments and guidance to the associated committees. Michael will distribute a summary of the results to the membership for review.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns please let me know or contact one of the ACVSMR board or committee members.
Regards,
Kevin Haussler, DVM, DC, PhD

In Memoriam
It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected death of our friend and colleague Dr. Lauren Frank. She passed away on June 24 at her Long Island home. After receiving her DVM from UC Davis in 2009, she pursued advanced training in small animal rehabilitation, acupuncture and sports medicine and achieved board certification with the American College of Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation in 2016. She was the beloved fiancée of Patrick Roynard, devoted daughter of Julie and Charles Frank, loving sister of Michelle Frank, Rebecca Frank, and Paemisa Wentz and her husband Adam. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society of the United States.

Help Build a Resource Library for Veterinary Students!
The public relations committee of ACVSMR is hoping to develop sports medicine and rehabilitation student clubs in veterinary schools. We are conducting a survey of all U.S. veterinary schools and are planning to establish contact with advisors of existing clubs. In addition, we will be reaching out to faculty at the remaining schools offering assistance in developing student clubs.
For our organization to be most beneficial to these student clubs, we are now requesting that ACVSMR diplomates help us to create a library of resource materials. These can include case reports (canine and equine), webinars, and videotapes of clinical conditions with diagnosis, etc. We will make these resources available to student club advisors for use in club meetings, crediting those who have supplied the resources.
We expect interest to be high and are hoping that you will support us in this effort by helping to build our library. Please contact Dr. Linda Blythe,
linda.blythe@oregonstate.edu. Thank you!
