Fire 46 New Member Open House
Wed., May 30
|
The firefighters of Station 46 (Montgomery Fire Co. #2, Blawenburg) will be opening their doors to everyone who is considering volunteering! We welcome anyone interested in possibly becoming a member to come down on Wednesday, May 30th and see what joining the ranks is all about. There are all sorts of roles needed to run a fire company and not all members are actual firefighters. Curious? Read more below photo.*
Pick one of two info sessions at 7 or 8 PM, which will give you an overview about what it takes to become a firefighter or associate member, and a tour of our facility and apparatus. We are located at 529 Rt. 518, Skillman, NJ 08558 (west of Burnt Hill Rd., east of Blawenburg Reformed Church).
Light refreshments will be provided.
*All firefighters in Montgomery Township are volunteers. Our firefighters come from diverse walks of life, from students to retirees. We are your neighbors and friends, your teachers, doctors, contractors; professionals and small business owners, stay at home parents and corporate executives. We are people who have accepted the challenge to give something back to support our community.
There are different types of members. Most of our adult members fight fires, which requires the greatest time commitment for training. Some respond to help control traffic at scenes. Those who don't wish to respond to emergencies can still be involved by becoming associate members, who, along with firefighting members, help with tasks including administration, IT, fundraising activities, catering events, cleaning and maintaining our trucks and equipment, and keeping our building and grounds clean.
There's sure to be something you can do. Everyone over age 16, male or female, is welcome to join!
