July 13, 2018

Hi all,

Kristin, Dave, and I just got back from three days of training in Milwaukee for Education Summer 2018 (summer organizing program)! We're  stoked!

Kenosha, Racine, Madison, Green Bay, Fond du Lac, Appleton, and Sheboygan are all participating. Member organizers from each of these Locals learned a bunch of great skills and they are READY to call, text, email, FB message, and knock on doors to sign up members this summer.

In addition, they'll be identifying leaders and engaging them to be more active participants in their union. The member organizers will also be identifying issues that their union can rally around and empower members to solve.

This is FUN work and I bet you're jealous that your Local isn't a part of it.

Have no fear, we'll give you a taste in our upcoming Membership Drive workshop on August 8th. Find two friends and join us so your Local can start 2018-19 with a BANG!

--Peace

Political Action
This is an 11.0101(10)(b)(1) communication with WEAC members

The Gubernatorial Primary is Tuesday, August 14, 2018
What is your plan for voting?
Offices on this PARTISAN primary ballot are Governor, U.S. Senator, U.S. Representative, odd-numbered Wisconsin State Senate seats, and all Wisconsin Assembly seats.
How the primary works
primary election is an election in which registered voters select a candidate that they believe should be a political party's candidate for elected office to run in the general election. They are also used to choose convention delegates and party leaders. Primaries are state-level and local-level elections that take place prior to a general election. Wisconsin utilizes an open primary system; registered voters do not have to be members of a party to vote in that party's primary. [40] [41] [42]

No Crossover Voting
Electors may vote for candidates of only one political party. Select a political party ballot. On the selected ballot, vote for the candidates of your choice by placing a mark in the space designated next to the candidate's name. Or, write in the name of a person for whom you desire to vote. If you vote for candidates of more than one party, no votes will be counted.

The Summer Summit is a once-a-year convening of all the people who care the most about what our public schools need to thrive and meet the needs of all students. This year's event promises to be the best one yet - with a full day of amazing breakouts led by experts on a wide range of topics, a keynote presentation from Jitu Brown of Chicago's Journey for Justice campaign, a Blue Ribbon Plenary Session with Rep. Joel Kitchens and Dr. Julie Underwood, a morning welcome from Superintendent of Public Instruction Dr. Tony Evers . . . and so much more!  Just announced: special guest speaker at the optional dinner will be Matt Rothschild of the Wisconsin Democracy Campaign. Stay tuned for the full lineup of breakouts and speakers - you won't be disappointed!  Click here to learn more - and register (includes lunch).
