Rumble strips serve an important and obvious need, but just like real estate, it's all about location, location, location.  Knowing where to place our boundaries is important to keeping things moving and healthy. This Sunday is week two of Rumble Strips we'll be focusing on some helpful guidelines in scripture for establishing boundaries in our most important relationships.

Pastor Nick will be speaking in the Sanctuary for the Traditional Worship services; Pastor Trevor will be speaking in the Auditorium for the Contemporary Worship services. We're looking forward to seeing you on Sunday!

Circles Orientation

As many of you know, we are partnering with Circles USA as part of an initiative to better understand the problem of poverty so we can more effectively solve poverty in our community and minister to those affected by it. Circles USA is a program intent on inspiring and equipping families and communities to thrive and resolve poverty. By engaging individuals as well as societies, institutions and communities, Circles USA strives to establish a healthy environment for lasting prosperity and support for those struggling with poverty.

We will be hosting 4 orientations for those interested in learning more about Circles Lexington County and how they get involved in this initiative. The orientations will be Sunday, July 22 at 9:00 AM and 10:45 AM, Wednesday, July 25 at 6 PM, Sunday, July 29 at 9:00 AM and 10:45 AM and Wednesday, August 1 at 6 PM. All orientations will take place in Room 547.

Poverty Simulations

As part of our Circles USA ministry, we will have 2 opportunities for you to experience poverty simulations. Just like the ones Mt. Horeb previously hosted in the Fall, these approximately two hour poverty simulations are designed to allow people to experience the multitude of different, challenging situations a typical low-income family might face trying to survive from month to month.
The two poverty simulations will be 4-6 PM July 29th  (register) and 6-8 PM July 31st  (register).

Worship Workshops

August 6-8th from 9 to 12:30, the Contemporary Worship Team is hosting Worship Workshops for students (grades 6-12) interested in learning more about worship music and live production. This is an excellent opportunity to learn more about an area of worship or production and develop their skills. If you are a beginner, this is also an opportunity to be exposed to how worship and production are used in church services. There are many tracks that you can choose from: Drums, Bass, Keys, Electric Guitar, Acoustic Guitar, Vocals, and Production. The deadline to sign up is July 31st and the cost is $30 with lunch included. Register here.

Fairways of Faith Tournament

On August 6th, a golf tournament will be held to support the Backpack Ministry that helps feed under-resourced children in the Lexington One School District. This tournament will be a four person captain's choice and play will begin at 10 AM. The entry fee is $300 per team or $72 per person with all proceeds going to the Backpack Ministry. The deadline to register is July 27th. If you would like more information or would like to register please contact Ken Lucas at (803) 260-6374 or [email protected]

Blood Drive

An emergency blood shortage is prompting the American Red Cross to issue an emergency appeal for eligible donors of all blood types - especially type O - to give now and help save lives. "Each and every day, individuals across the country depend on blood and platelet donations for lifesaving treatments and emergency care, so it's critical that people donate now to meet these needs," said Cliff Numark, senior vice president, Red Cross Blood Services.
Please consider donating blood at  Mt. Horeb UMC on Monday, July 23rd from 2PM to 7PM in the Student Room.
