#INWED18 News: July
Welcome to the July edition of the INWED newsletter,

On 23 June, we celebrated International Women in Engineering Day 2018 (#INWED18) . What a day! Across June and continuing into July, activity across the world has been phenomenal, both on social media and in the number of events and activities that have and are being held for children, adults and colleagues alike.

This year we had 22 official #INWED18 sponsors. Without their dedication and support of diversity and inclusion in engineering and allied sectors, this international awareness campaign would not have been possible, thank you. To see all official #INWED18 sponsors, click here.

With your help, on INWED (23 June) itself, we reached over 2.5 MILLION people through our Thunderclap campaign and many more with all of the tweets that have been (and are still) posted using #INWED18 @INWED1919 and #RaisingTheBar!

To date we have had  245 events registered with us, with even more being noted retrospectively, including 50 international events that took place - coverin g all five continents.   The current tally of registered events equates to a perceived reach of  over 142,000 people  directly interacting with INWED activities  this year. In the week of INWED alone, the website was viewed by  36,620 unique visitors with 65,091 page views from  163 countries.

Thank you for a true demonstration of #RaisingTheBar for women and girls in engineering. Your continued support of this international awareness campaign helps drive change and improve diversity and inclusion in this industry.

Top 50 Women in Engineering (WE50) 2018
The Top 50 Women in Engineering (WE50) 2018: Returners and Transferrers with WES' CEO Kirsten Bodley, at the INWED18 Afternoon Tea

On 24 June, the 2018 Top 50 Women in Engineering (WE50): Returners and Transferrers were noted in a supplement with the Sunday Telegraph.  WES celebrated this year's winners at the International Women in Engineering Day Afternoon Tea event, hosted at the Royal Academy of Engineering on 26 June.

Over 220 attendees came to the event on one of the hottest days this year. The calibre of attendees, and speeches from Hayaatun Sillem, Chief Executive at the Royal Academy of Engineering and Allan Cook, Chairman of the High Value Man ufacturing Catapult were fantastic and made for a truly celebratory event for INWED and awards ceremony for the Top 50 females.

The afternoon tea was the first chance to meet the WE50 winners (see photo below), a fantastic example of the achievements of women in engineering. WE50 winner, Savina Carluccio said "being recognised  as one of this year's Top 50 women in engineering is humbling and thrilling at the same time. I hope my example will inspire other female colleagues and encourage them not to be afraid to take time off to look after their young families or to take different paths in their engineering career".
