With the end of the school year just one week away, we are making this the last Falcon Focus of the year in order to avoid getting lost in the hustle and bustle.  

Serving as the district's superintendent the past three years has truly been an honor. I deeply appreciate the support I've received from our staff, parents, governing board, and the community as a whole. This district is special and there are too many wonderful moments and experiences to cite them all so in the simplest of terms, it's been a blast!

Please give Dr. Allen the same level of support you've given me as he assumes the position of superintendent on July 1. I am confident that with his leadership and the community's support, FHUSD will continue to accomplish great things.

I am honored and excited to be the new Fountain Hills School District superintendent. I believe that having served as the district's assistant superintendent of business operations for the past three years will contribute to a smooth transition for all stakeholders. In my thirty-eight years as an Arizona public school educator, most of my career was with the Paradise Valley School District. During that time I was a teacher in the elementary, middle and high school grades. In addition I was an assistant principal, elementary principal, and district director of assessment.

There have always been significant challenges confronting public education such as funding and academic accountability. The current climate combines these factors with the need to embrace 21st century skills, student engagement, school safety and security, enrollment and school choice. As we chart our future pathway, the vision I have for FHUSD is for all members of the school and district community to put the learning and well-being of students at the forefront in determining the decisions and actions that move us forward.

I thank the governing board and Fountain Hills community for this opportunity.
