The Heat is On!!
....After a week of blazing temperatures and summer thunderstorms, I'm sure you're looking forward to our cool summer nights, summer concerts in the park, and a dip in the community pool. Good news...we have all of those opportunities and then some, for you and your family and friends! Whatever you find yourself doing this summer, we want to welcome to another edition of the Town of Yucca Valley's Community Update. Whether you are a resident, business owner, visitor or part of our basin family, we are privileged to serve you. As you will see through the information below, there is a lot happening in Yucca Valley...even in the heat! We invite you to stay engaged with your Elected Officials and with Town Staff as new decisions are considered and made with the simple goal of keeping the Town of Yucca Valley as a great place to live, work, and play.

Mayor Holds Office Hours- Mondays 4-5 p.m.
|
|
Mayor Denison is available for open office hours on Mondays from 4-5
p.m. at Town Hall. Residents are welcome visit with the Mayor to discuss pro
jects, programs, or concerns. While drops-ins are welcome, residents are encouraged to set up an
appointment with the Town Clerk. Appointment times outside of the scheduled office hours may also be available. Due to a prior commitment, Mayor Denison will not be available for drop in visits on Monday, July 23rd. The Town Clerk can be reached at (760) 369-7209 x226 or by

Thunderstorm Cleanup Begins
|
|
On July 7th and July 11th, the Town received significant rainfall in short periods of time. While much needed, this rainfall accumulated quickly with resulting mud and dirt flows throughout Town. Town crews and contractors have begun the cleanup efforts. These efforts will continue over the course of the next few weeks. Please drive safely, particularly in areas affected by flooding. For future rain events during the summer monsoon season, remember...Turn Around...Don't Drown.

Town Unveils New Logos for Measures Y and Z
|

Check out the new logos for the Town's Measure Y and Measure Z!
Measure Y represents the Community's commitment to Public Safety, Roads and Quality of Life. Look for this logo around Town to easily identify projects and programs supported by Measure Y funding.
Measure Z will assist ratepayers in Yucca Valley with a lower annual wastewater assessment, starting in 2018.

The Town Council recently had the opportunity to meet our newest Sheriff Safety Specialist, Katelyn Kelly. Specialist Kelly, along with Sheriff Safety Specialist Melissa Kramer, provide important support for our local Sheriff's Department in their Public Safety efforts in Yucca Valley. From taking reports to meeting with residents, these Specialists provide an important resource in ensuring public safety to our Town. This position was made possible by funding through the Town's recently passed Measure Y. Focused on Public Safety, Infrastructure and Quality of Life, Measure Y is providing the resources necessary to ensure that Yucca Valley continues to be a great place to live work and play.

Concerts are held at the Yucca Valley Community Center Ballfield. Gates open at 6:30 p.m. Music begins at 7:00 p.m. Bring a blanket or lawn chair. Pets are allowed on upper field only. No alcohol please.

November 2018 Election Information

Interested in serving your community as a
Town Council Member? The November 2018 general election will include three available seats on the local governing board. Local residents who are registered to vote within District 1, District 3, or District 5 are eligible to vie for a seat on the Council, for a four-year term.
The nomination period for those interested in pulling election papers begins on Monday, July 16th, and closes on Friday, August 10th. Interested individuals should contact the
Town Clerk to learn more about the election process and to "pull" nomination papers.

Mobile App for Easy Town Hall Access
|
|
|
Now its easier than ever to connect to Town Hall anytime, anywhere! Yucca Valley launches a new mobile app, to provide residents with a better connection to local resources and information. The GO Request app is an easy way to report potholes, illegal dumping, a lost/found pet or other issues while out and about in the community. Just click on "New Issue" to submit your report or inquiry.
The GO Request app is available for download from the iTunes App Store or Google Play. Once installed and "Yucca Valley" is selected as a location, users will be connected to Town Hall, with easy access to the Town's "Ask Yucca" customer service portal.

Residents are encouraged to stay cool this summer by seeking air conditioned buildings, drinking plenty of water and limit outdoor activities during the hottest time of the day. Check on family, friends and neighbors who do not have air conditioning or who spend much of their time alone. Never leave children or pets inside vehicles.
Town offices are open during normal business hours with lobby areas to accommodate those wishing to get out of the heat. The Yucca Valley Community Center is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm. The
Hi-Desert Nature Museum is open Thursday through Saturday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. People are welcome to bring a book and a snack to help pass the time. The
Yucca Valley Library is open Monday through Wednesday from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm., Thursday from 10 am to 6 pm and Saturday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Other local opportunities to stay cool include local shopping malls, movie theaters, and restaurants.
The Yucca Valley Senior Center provides low-cost lunches to local residents with an opportunity to socialize with others in a cool environment. Lunches are served Monday through Friday at 11:30 a.m.

Sprinkler lines were upgraded for increased efficiency at Essig Park. The summer season is an excellent time to maintain the grass areas at local parks, especially at the Community Center to prepare for the Summer Music Festival attendees!

Electoral Districts- New for November 2018 Election
|
|
New to the Town Council's election process, is the recent establishment of electoral districts, beginning with the November 2018 general election. Since its incorporation in 1991, the Town conducted "at large" elections for it's Council Members, meaning that any registered voter within the Town limits is eligible to vote for any seat on the governing board.
Starting with the November 2018 election, voters will only have the opportunity to vote for candidates within it's own electoral district based upon the voter's address. Additionally, candidates will be required to live in the specific district they wish to represent. For more information, visit the

Hi Desert Water District Continues Town Sewer Project
|
|
|
The Hi Desert Water District's Sewer Project continues at the east end of Town, at the treatment plant facility site as well as line placement moving toward mid-town near Hwy 247. Stay up to date on the progress of the project and get real time traffic impact information by visiting the project website.
