VERBATIM
"The city wants to solicit public input regarding the advantages and challenges that the ficus trees on Green Street pose. We want the community's input to help us assess whether or not it would be appropriate to amend our master street tree plan, or whether we should retain it as is and continue the practice of planting ficus trees.

Charles Peretz, Pasadena public works administrator (See Editor's Pick story: City: no plans to remove ficus trees along Green Street)

"Pasadena Transit, the City of Pasadena's local bus system, will be extending its operating hours on Saturday, July 14, to provide transportation to and from the Colorado Bridge Street Party, Pasadena's most popular party of the year this year (because it only happens every other year). Pasadena Transit announced it will be running until 11:45 p.m. on Route 10 to serve people going to the Colorado Bridge Street Party and coming back. The fare will be free after 5 p.m., according to the announcement." Pasadena Now

City: no plans to remove ficus trees along Green Street
" None of the 247 ficus trees on Green Street, along with the 476 others in the city, is slated for removal, according to Charles Peretz, public works administrator. The City of Pasadena has scheduled a Ficus Tree community meeting for Wednesday, July 25 at 6 p.m. at the Central Library Donald R. Wright Auditorium 285 E. Walnut. The meeting will focus on the Green Street ficus tree canopy, said Peretz." Pasadena Now

"Ridership is so dismal and revenue from Pasadena's struggling Metro Bike Share program is so low that the program's costs now threaten the City's total transit operating budget and the City must terminate its agreement with Metro immediately, Pasadena Transportation Director Fred Dock said in a bombshell report released ahead of tomorrow's Municipal Services Committee. In fact, City staff plan to notify Metro on Tuesday that the City intends to terminate the program within 60 days or less, Dock said." Pasadena Now

"When workers walked into Descanso Gardens on Saturday, they were met with an unpleasant surprise. Most of the gardens' prized camellia plants had been sunburnt by the extreme heat a day earlier. The temperature reached 115 degrees at Descanso Gardens Friday, a record. Staff at Descanso are still tallying the damage, but an early estimate is that about 70 percent of the gardens' roughly 10,000 camellia plants have sunburn." Pasadena Star-News

"The Pasadena City Council will vote on a series of measures Monday which are necessary in order to place a 0.75 percent sales tax on the November 2018 ballot. The proposal would raise the city's sales tax from 9.5 percent to 10.25 percent. The proceeds would be used to offset the City's projected budget deficit in coming years." Pasadena Now
