Better end products with less downtime:
how we help you to achieve that.
Two things make our job rewarding at Anderman Industrial Ceramics. The first is being able to work across a range of sectors, from superalloys, aluminium and steel to glass, cement and chemicals.

The second is applying that breadth of knowledge to enable you to pinpoint where your processes can be improved. We can help you to design and develop ceramic and refractory solutions that:

  • withstand extreme temperatures and temperature changes
  • resist corrosion and contamination for longer
  • need reconditioning or replacing less frequently
  • improve the quality of your end product.

If you want to reduce downtime by making your operation more efficient and you are not sure where to begin, talk to us. We can help identify the exact cause of your problem. Then, with our global manufacturing network of partners and specialists, we’ll be able to develop the most effective solution for your processes.

This gives you an idea of the checks we go through on your behalf:

1: Materials

The composition of the ceramics you use is fundamental to performance. You need to know that you have the right one for the job. Our manufacturing network covers a vast range of materials, including zirconia, alumina, silicon carbide and quartz . We’ll guide you on whether you need a refractory or technical ceramic. After that we focus on exact specifications, from density and open porosity to tensile and flexural strength.

Taking all these properties into consideration will go some way to solving your problem. But there are other factors too, including:

2: Processing

Material composition is significant. But how those materials are processed to create your components is just as important. For instance, an alumina tube might be made in a range of ways: extrusion or slip casting; isostatic pressing or dry press moulding. Each process route will influence how the finished product performs in challenging environments. In addition, the way in which it is fired will vary, depending on manufacturer technology.  With our extensive partner network, we are able to offer you more options.

3: Handling and installation

You can have the best ceramic in the world, but if it is installed incorrectly, it won’t perform efficiently. We help customers when they are assembling or moving equipment, to ensure that each part is aligned and installed as it should be. Even a millimetre or two out of position can put undue pressure on the ceramic and other parts of your operation and lead to problems such as cracking or accelerated wear.

4: Theory versus practice

While industry manuals give you a theoretical framework in which to operate, we can supplement those guidelines with years of practical experience. Sometimes it’s a question of tiny recalibrations: subtly refining the shape of a part or developing the environment for better performance. Whatever the adjustment, we can advise you on when there is room to manoeuvre, so your business runs more smoothly.

5: We are here to help

Perhaps you have a problem now. Perhaps you have tried to tackle a process problem previously, with mixed results. Or perhaps you simply want to improve processing. Whatever your challenge, talk to us.

The chances are the market can offer you a solution now. We are confident about this because we have been designing, manufacturing, sourcing and distributing technical ceramics and refractories for more than 70 years – and we know we’ll find the answer you need.
