Next Seven Days
VBS Decorating Days (and Registration Form!)
Decorating days: Saturdays, July 14 and 21
9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Westminster's Vacation Bible School (VBS) theme is "Rolling River Rampage: Experience the Ride of a Lifetime with God!" Plan to use all of your creative juices to help us create the great outdoors in Grace Hall. We could use donations, which we will return, of rafting equipment, camping gear, artificial Christmas trees, tarps, sticks, etc. We also need old newspapers. This year's VBS runs from July 23 - 27. Register now for the best week of the summer! Click here for the two-page registration form. BOTH pages must be completed in order for your child/grandchild to participate in VBS. Please return both forms to the church at the same time. If you have questions, email Robin Rosser at [email protected].

Do Not Miss "The Insult"
Tuesday, July 17, 7:00 p.m. in Rodney Chapel
Our friends at Pacem in Terris will be showing the compelling film, The Insult. A minor incident between a Lebanese Christian and a Palestinian refugee turns into an explosive trial that ends up dividing the two communities. There will be a post-film discussion with Dr. Rob Abel. We hope you can join us. It will be shown on Tuesday, July 17, at 7:00 p.m. in Rodney Chapel.

Coming Up
Let's Talk About It - A Periodic Series
Sunday, July 29, 9:00 a.m.
in the Ruth Christie Room
Facilitated by Sue Linderman
White people are unaccustomed to talking about race and its implications in their lives. Yet, at some level, everyone recognizes that racism and prejudice have a profound impact on our communities and our country. We need opportunities to experience the challenges and benefits that come from bringing racial issues into the light of day. All are welcome to join us on July 29 as we continue the journey of exploring our beliefs about race, with openness to differing opinions and respect for one another.
UrbanPromise Anniversary Celebration
Sunday, July 29, 2:00 p.m. at Westminster
Westminster and UrbanPromise have built a strong partnership as we seek to equip children and young adults through Christ with the skills necessary for academic achievement, life management, personal growth and servant leadership. Our church building is home to Camp Promise - an after-school program during the school year and a six-week summer camp. Many of you have been involved as mentors/tutors and more are welcome! Join us as we host the celebration of 20 years of transformative change in Wilmington! Be sure to RSVP by July 20 to [email protected]. We look forward to seeing you there!

Our youth helped build a fence during Youth Mission Week in June. Youth Mission Week gets teens out of their comfort zone and into service of our community. This year we partnered with Habitat for Humanity and the Wilmington Land Bank and worked to build a beautiful fence in a neighborhood in Wilmington that needed some attention. Neighbors introduced themselves while the team was working and shared their frustration with this corner lot. They were so moved to see young people taking time out of their day to make their neighborhood better. Click here to see more photos!

An Easy Way to Keep Your Contributions Current

Consider signing up this summer; it's easy! Visit www.wpc.org and click the "Donate Now" button at top right corner. For questions, contact Colleen Falasco ( [email protected] or 302-654-5214 ext. 131).

Sign of Trust

As signs go there are few better
than to have a fledgling
hop onto our feet
to get a better view of the world,
the bird not yet able to fly,
it not yet wild. It is pleasing
to have one so vulnerable
give us such trust,
we who vigilantly guard our boundaries,
we so quick to enforce our rights,
we so proudly self-sufficient.
If we are trusted,
may we also be more trusting.
