Friend!
Good morning.
Monday in Israel was an intense day. During the late afternoon, Israelis celebrated the 70
th
anniversary of Israeli independence and watched the festive opening of the new United States’ Embassy in Jerusalem. At the same time 40,000 people along the border between Israel and Gaza demonstrated in what many Palestinians call Nakba Day – a day of rage, which resulted in the death of at least 61 Palestinians and thousands more injured. Please find below a number of opinion editorials on this subject from a variety of sources. To quote my colleague, Barry Shrage/President of Combined Jewish Philanthropies in Boston,
"
I pray for the day when Hamas cares more about the future of the Palestinian people than the end of the Jewish state."
I attended Federation Beneficiary Agency
UD Hillel's
Annual Meeting & Celebration on Monday evening. It was wonderful experiencing firsthand the difference we are making in enriching the lives of Jewish undergraduate students so they may enrich the Jewish people and the world.
