New Article About Stellar TVR

Come along with author Sara Brooks and meet Stellar TVR , the golden Haflinger stallion who is winning hearts as well as open dressage classes. “I made the trip to Stellar’s home at Rowe Stables in Okemos, Michigan and was pleased to find that not only does Stellar live up to his name and beyond, but also that owner Mary Procopio and trainer Tracy Rowe have forged a wonderful, respectful partnership that allows Stellar to reach his fullest potential.” The photo shows Stellar at the National Dressage Pony Cup, interacting with one of his fans.

Foundation Fridays
Recent Foundation Sires Featured on WarmbloodStallionsNA.com
We started a new feature on WarmbloodStallionsNA.com in 2018: Foundation Fridays! Every other Friday we will be featuring a foundation sire - one who has been influential in the development of warmblood breeds. Since our last email newsletter, we have added three new stallions. With most of these articles, we'll be pulling from the incredible archive of The Horse Magazine , published by Chris Hector of Australia. Thank you, Chris, for permission to draw on your expertise!

In each of these articles, we introduce a Foundation Sire, and we also include links to stallions with each of these bloodlines who are on WarmbloodStallionsNA.com .

Predicting Foals' Future Personalities
Is it possible to tell what a horse's personality will be like from how he behaves as a foal? TheHorse.com is a wonderful website devoted to reporting scientific research about horses. In a recent article, the report is on research done by a French team that has indicated that it might be possible to predict a foal's future personality. "Foals’ initial expressions of their developing personalities are clear signs of the horse’s adult personality–and even learning capacity–to come, researchers found."

Heritability of Traits in Horses

Here's another article on theHorse.com that is of interest to all breeders, on the heritability of traits. If you select for a certain trait, there's an excellent chance you'll get another trait that comes with the one you want. You may or may not want the second one. Food for thought.

We'll be including more research results relevant to breeders from theHorse.com in our blog posts in the coming weeks, so be sure to check back.

Dressage at Devon Announces New Breed Classes for Ponies
Melanie Sloyer, chair of the Dressage at Devon Breed Division, announced that new classes for ponies will be introduced at the 2018 show.

“These classes will ‘mirror’ the breed division in-hand classes. While ponies were included, we felt that classes specifically for ponies would open the field. Classes will include the Colt, Filly, Foal, Mare, Stallion Championships – based on qualifier classes – just as we have held for the horses,” said Sloyer.
