Summer Kickoff Concert with

Join us for an outdoor concert featuring Beatles Tribute Band 4EverFab, a cover band that recreates Beatles hits.
Bring blankets, chairs, and a picnic to enjoy, or purchase food from one of the food trucks in our parking lot. Stacking chairs will also be provided.

Mind to Mind With Preston Heller, Mentalist
Thursday, May 31, 7pm
Heller will not tell you what a mentalist does: he will show you! The audience is guaranteed to have a unique, personal experience with the "unseen", including thought implantation or 'influence', revealing of information known only to the spectator, predictions, and much more.
One hundred percent of proceeds from this library presentations will be donated to local food pantries. Heller requests that audience members please bring non-perishable food items to donate.
Recommended for ages 12 and up.
Register to reserve a seat. Walk-ins welcome if space is available.

DCU Monthly Concerts Series Presents:
In Honor of the 100th Anniversary of World War I

Join folk musician and former professor "Ramblin' Richard" Kruppa for an entertaining and informative program about how the songs of WWI related to the life and times of Americans of that era, and why so many have remained beloved to this day.
The Rodgers Library hosts a FREE concert series the second Friday in July and August @ 6:30pm

Our Annual Cupcake Extravaganza and Baking Contest is BACK!

by eating lots of cupcakes!
Persons of all ages
are invited to bake cupcakes for our Cupcake Birthday Extravaganza
and to enter them in our Cupcake Contest!

Cupcakes will be judged according to taste, texture, presentation and creativity, and prizes will be awarded in the kids, teens and adult categories. You may also bake cupcakes for us without entering the contest. All cupcake bakers will receive a cupcake box (with a removable frosting lid, see below) made on our 3D printer.

Display Case Requests Being Accepted!
Do you or someone you know have a collection of interesting items? Are you a crafty person looking to display their creations? You're in luck! The library lobby has a large, locked glass display case that can showcase your collection, and we'd love to show them off. Items are displayed for a month. Almost anything goes!

Ever wanted to experiment with new varieties in your garden? Take home a sample packet of
heirloom
fruit, flower, herb, and vegetable seeds to try! Each packet contains enough seed for a one square foot plot. Just choose the varieties that interest you and bring them to the circulation desk for checkout. Tell us how it works out!

The Library Challenge!
Introducing our new yearlong adult reading program beginning July 1, 2018:
The Library Challenge! Visit the library and pick up a "challenge card" - a card listing various Challenge List genres and categories, such as "read a classic romance" or "read a Pulitzer Prize-winning book." Continue
the challenge until July 1, 2019, and you'll be eligible to win our grand prize, which will be awarded to the contestant who has read the most challenge books over the course of the year!
Special Bonus for those who participate in our Summer Reading Program AND the Library Challenge!
Win five raffle tickets for each book you read from the Challenge List, and enter the tickets for a chance to win our summer reading prizes: Gift certificates to local stores and restaurants. More information coming soon!

It's back! Join us after the Beatles concert on Friday, June 15 for a night of lasers and laughter. Teams of teens will compete for glory in the arena of the library. (See above for more information on the Beatles concert.)
Registration Required. Registrations open June 1.
All participants and their legal guardians must sign a liability form, which is available at the reference desk. No form, no entry--even if you already signed up.

Does your teen want to help shape the library's future? Every month we have a one-hour meeting in which teens get to have a voice in the library's development, including the collection and programming. And they earn an hour of community service each time they attend!

A special relationship...
Become a Friend of the Rodgers Memorial Library by joining a group of volunteers who support a variety of activities including the purchase of the 3D Printer, the Telescope, learning modules and other equipment for the children's room; award the Leonard A. Smith Memorial Scholarship; provide funding for the Summer Reading Program, movie licenses, Santa photos, author forums and a variety of Humanities Council programs.
Choose from activities including being a Santa's Helper, Second Hand Prose "librarians", celebrating National Library Week with library staff, or participate in a variety of other opportunities.
The Friends have supported the Hudson library system for over 35 years and were instrumental in focusing on the need to build a new home for expanded services which culminated in the construction and opening of the new library donated by the Rodgers family in 2009.
The Friends are a 501(c)(3) organization, have business meetings five times a year to plan for activities and form necessary sub-committees. Tax-deductible annual membership dues are $10 (individual), $20 (family), $30 (patron) or $50 (business).
