Celebrate Israel Parade
On Sunday, June 3rd, TABC will participate in the annual Celebrate Israel Parade. This is perhaps the single most important communal event for the local Jewish community and the parade is watched closely by politicians to gauge the level of support for Israel in the Jewish community. Attendance at the parade is mandatory for students and strongly recommended for their parents. We will have buses available for transportation to and from the parade. To properly gauge the number of buses we will need, please complete this GoogleForm by Wednesday, May 23rd. If the form is not completed we cannot guarantee him a seat on the bus.

The bus will depart TABC at 10:15 am and will return at approximately 3:00 pm. For those who choose to provide their own transportation and wish to meet us in Manhattan,
we will assemble at 11:45 on West 53rd Street between Fifth and Sixth Avenues.

The dress code for the parade is dark pants - no shorts. Before we depart we will distribute parade T-shirts to the students.

Reminder

Please send in your medical forms as soon as possible, but no later than
August 1st.

Forms can be found  here.

TABC Publishes a Sefer
Just in Time for Shavuot
Torah Academy of Bergen County is delighted to announce the publication of its first Sefer, Ruach Yosef, on the occasion of the 25th Yahrzeit of the Rav, and in honor of our Rosh Yeshiva (please see dedication for full explanation of the title). In conjunction with our community wide Shavuot learning program, we present this Sefer to the community as a means of sharing the Torah of our students, faculty, and graduates with the broader community. May this Sefer be the first of many. You can see an article all about it here, and download the sefer itself here.
Creating Dystopias in
Mrs. Shavelson's English 10A
With George Orwell's 1984 and Kurt Vonnegut's "Harrison Bergeron" in their pockets, Mrs. Shavelson's English 10A students crafted their own dystopias, replete with backstory, a bill of rights, propaganda, and diary entries of ordinary citizens. What they discovered is that elements of common dystopias -- constant surveillance, curbs on basic freedoms of speech and expression, and an understood incursion into people's privacy -- make their way into the world around them, either in this country or abroad. A frightening reality that makes us cherish the safeguards to democracy we often take for granted.

Rabbi Grossman's Y5 & Y9 Shiurim Make Joint Siyum
On May 16th Rabbi Grossman made a siyyum for his Y5 and Y9 Mishna classes for finishing Mesechta Beizah. There was plenty of hot food as well as divrei Torah and Rabbi Adler honored the students with a beautiful dvar Torah about the joy of learning Torah. This is a theme which is so fitting with Shavout only a few days away. Mazel Tov to Rabbi Grossman and the classes. Click here for more photos.

AIPAC Speaks to Seniors and
Israel Advocacy Club
This past Friday, Ms.Carly Sternberg, AIPAC's Director of High School Engagement, met with our graduating seniors to share with them how they can become involved in Israel advocacy on their college campuses.  In her presentation, Ms. Sternberg emphasized that Israel advocacy is not only about combating anti-Israel sentiment and propaganda, but, more important, about political action that will continue to ensure that our congressmen and senators are well educated about issues pertaining to Israel and thereby to ensure that Congress continues to support Israel in all of the challenges which it confronts. The Israel Advocacy Club then had the special opportunity to meet with Ms. Steinberg in a smaller setting.
College Fair is Coming Up
On Wednesday, May 23rd the College Guidance Department will hold its  annual Spring College Fair for juniors and their parents.  This year's event will be held at Ma'ayanot (1650 Palisade Avenue, Teaneck), beginning at 7:30 sharp.
