THIS SUNDAY IN WORSHIP
Sunday, May 20, 2018
PENTECOST

Sermon: Rev. LeeAnn Inman
Awakening Our Wonder: "Every Breath We Take"

Scripture: Psalm 104:24-31; 33-35 (CEB)

Running out of breath is a quick reminder to any of us as to how essential our breathing actually is. Our breath is not just illustrative of life, but it also is a tangible sign of the Living Spirit of God within us. When we focus on our breathing, we also begin to focus on the movement of the Spirit within us; the Holy Spirit who renews and brings us new life.

John Young Elementary Volunteer Meeting - May 23
Throughout this past year, we have been developing a partnership with the staff and administration of John Young Elementary School. Despite the great work that JYE does with the children in the community, teachers shared with us that there is still a need for volunteer support within the classroom for both math and reading. Principal Lino Rodriguez said it best at a recent meeting, "If they can learn to read, they'll be able to do anything they can dream of in the future."

So for those of you who find yourself looking for ways to be involved in changing lives, what about donating an hour a week in a classroom?  Our vision is that this would be major initiative of our church, with an ongoing relationship developing between Peace and the students and staff of JYE.   We will host a "meet and greet" for anyone interested on Wednesday, May 23rd at 10:00 a.m. at the school (12550 Marsfield Ave, Orlando, FL 32837). Principal Rodriguez and other school staff will be there with us to explain the needs, answer questions, and even give us a tour of the school.  So let's be a part of unlocking the future dreams of the students at John Young Elementary School! We hope to see you there!

Summer Nights of Prayer - June 21
Summer nights are full of fun events, vacations and excitement. But among the hustle and bustle of the season, we want to pause to pray as a family of believers. Once each month this summer we will gather in the sanctuary for a combination of prayer and reflection. Prayers will be lifted for our community, church, country and future endeavors. Our goal is to pray without ceasing this summer--with thankful hearts. Make plans to attend our first Summer Nights of Prayer event on Thursday, June 21st from 6:30 - 7:15 p.m.
Faith Journey Class on Sunday Mornings
The Faith Journey Class is a caring and sharing group. We meet every Sunday morning at 11:00 a.m. (one hour) in the Youth Room side-B. We are currently using the Friday Pastor's Worship Blog email along with the Sunday message, as the topic of discussion. The intent is to dig a little deeper and share how we can apply the Word to our daily lives. The Faith Journey Class consists of married and single people seeking a closer walk with Jesus.  Come join us on this journey!
