Blood Pressure Screening This Sunday
Get your blood pressure checked every 3rd Sunday of the month at our Blood Pressure Screening. The MIPC Health Ministry team is available this Sunday, May 20, after both the 8:15am and 10:35am services.
May 20th is Commitment Sunday
This Sunday is Pentecost - and the anniversary of MIPC becoming a church! We thought it would be fitting to culminate the Building Inside Out capital campaign on this day. Please join in worship at either the 8:15 breakfast service or the 10:35 traditional service to share in this experience of the Holy Spirit alive in the church, as we also turn in our financial commitments to the Building Inside Out capital campaign.
(Please note that this is our last Sunday with 2 morning services and that there is no 5pm service this week due to the Ewan Lill memorial.)

Included in the recent newsletter mailed to your home is a commitment card and envelope. Please bring these with you to church on May 20. Pledges to our capital campaign are above and beyond our regular offering and may be contributed as a one-time gift or in weekly, monthly, quarterly or annual payments over the coming three years ending in May 2021. Additional information is available in the newsletter and booklet, as well as at www.mipc.org. Your prayerful, generous, and faithful gift will help build up both the mission and ministry of our church.
Advance Commitments
At the recent early commitment gathering for our capital campaign, Building Inside Out, turnout from both the First Taiwanese Presbyterian Church (FTPC) and MIPC was very positive. FTPC provided a wonderful buffet and the advance pledges toward our campaign goal were strong - a blessed sign for us.

To date, we're nearly half-way to our $3,000,000 Challenge Goal. We'll have an update to share at our All-Church Banquet & Children's Party on May 18. It will take our entire congregation's generosity to reach our goals. Everyone's pledge is vital to our success.

Please continue to prayerfully consider your financial commitment to the Building Inside Out campaign for the well-being of our church facility. Commitment Sunday is May 20th. Please come to worship on that day and add your pledge to our growing total

"100,000 Sundays of Symbols & Rituals"
Sundays at 9:15am in Classroom A-B, through May 20
Christians have been worshiping together for 2,000 years - about 100,000 Sundays. What are the rituals that we do in MIPC today, which Christians started using 100,000 Sundays ago? Which of our symbols began 75,000 or 50,000 Sundays ago? Join us to look at the history of Christian worship, and to learn about the cultural and historical forces that formed our rituals and symbols, and what their meaning is for us today. Led by Rosemary Sixbey.

Wednesday Morning Bible Study

"Our Wonderful Pipe Organ"
Thursday, May 24th, 10:30am-1pm
Did you know that our pipe organ was actually assembled by 52 people, most of whom were from our congregation?  Did you know that it took them 5,800 hours and 18 months to do it?  Carl Dodrill, who heads the Pipe Organ Foundation, will show you how this was done using photos and actual organ parts.  Our organist, William Bryant, will illustrate the various voices in the organ including a truly unique voice, the Glass Flute.  He will then demonstrate the unique features of the Pipe Organ so that you will truly have a new appreciation for this instrument.  Please let Ruth Ann know by Tuesday, May 22, if you will attend. MIPC Courtyard Gallery
On display through June 16
The art of Watanabe Sadao has hung in the Vatican Museum, the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, the British Museum, the National Museum of Modern Art in Tokyo and many other leading museums. Digital prints of his work will be exhibited in the MIPC Courtyard Gallery from April 19 - June 16, due to the generosity of Anne H. H. Pyle and the School of Asian Studies at the University of Washington.

A Christian Artist in a country where Shinto and Buddhist heritage is dominant, Mr. Watanabe created lively and energetic prints with Christian themes from traditional Japanese materials using a complex, multi-stepped process of preparation of materials and creation of images. During President Lyndon Johnson's administration, his prints hung in the White House. Yet, Watanabe said, "I would most like to see them hanging where people ordinarily gather, because Jesus brought the gospel for the people."

In addition to the prints, we are pleased to have a presentation by Anne H. H. Pyle, Watanabe's only private student, and the owner of the largest collection of his work. Join us on June 3 after the 9:30am summer service and learn more about this artist and his calling.

Summer 2018 Sermon Series
What few verses from the Bible most inspire you? Comfort you? Guide you? Give you direction and hope? What verse is taped on your mirror or tucked on a note card in your wallet? We are taking suggestions for the Summer sermon series looking at beloved scripture in the MIPC community.  Send your favorite scripture passages to [email protected]
Tuesday Morning Men's Bible Study
We meet on Tuesdays at 7:00am in the Fireside Room. Please contact Brian Emanuels for more information, [email protected] .
Sanctuary Flowers
Each Sunday, congregation members have the opportunity to provide the beauty of flowers to the sanctuary. Many donate to honor loved ones who have passed, celebrate an anniversary or birthday or just because they love seeing flowers at church. Whatever the reason, the thoughtfulness is greatly appreciated. Flowers can come from your garden or a flower shop, whatever works best for you.
Because some of our members and guests are allergic to floral fragrances it is best to plan flowers without fragrances. Thank you.

If you would like to sign up to provide flowers for an upcoming Sunday service or for more information please continue to this  link .
