MAY UPDATE
Loveland  Strong

There's no way to sugarcoat it, the past six weeks have been challenging. We've experienced hardships personally, professionally, mentally, and emotionally. As we have worked to navigate these unprecedented times together, we continue to remain hopeful, seek support from our friends, family, neighbors, and lean on each other for encouragement to remain Loveland Strong. It has been remarkable to see what our community is made of, from the dedicated frontline medical professionals, to watching parents navigate at-home learning, to spreading community support for so many local small businesses. Let's be sure to keep spreading kindness and take a moment to thank all the wonderful mothers, stepmothers, grandmothers, adopted mothers and pet moms this weekend. Don't forget there are lots of takeout options to consider so mom doesn't have to cook this weekend!

As our state and local governments help us transition to Safer at Home and businesses start to slowly reopen their operations, we ask for the well being of our community that you continue to practice social distancing and follow best practices outlined by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention. We each play an important role in ensuring our community rebounds from this pandemic, and a positive cautious mindset is what will help Loveland return to the economically healthy and resilient city that we are all proud to call home.

OUR COMM UNITY  IN ACTION
PARDON OUR  DUST
Thanks for your patience while a portion of the north trail was temporarily closed and required some additional attention, once the weather cooperated. You'll notice some additional landscaping work coming to fruition near two new large detention ponds on the north and northwest sides of Houts Reservoir. These areas will include native trees, shrubs and grasses, that will produce additional wildlife habitat for our certified community.

Perhaps you've spotted dirt moving and construction activity alongside I-25 between Medical Center of the Rockies and the Centerra Motorplex. The Centerra Metro District contributed $6M towards CDOT's I-25 expansion project to build a bridge over the Union Pacific Railroad which will eventually allow the District to construct the long anticipated extension of Kendall Pkwy. providing a new vehicular connection between the east and west side of Centerra. In addition to that, CDOT is building a center loading mobility hub for Express Bus service in the middle of I-25 with protected barrier walls south of the railroad. This new Centerra-Loveland Station will be accessible by a pedestrian-friendly tunnel system situated underneath the interstate. This is the first of its kind in the region. The project is anticipated to be completed by 2022.

CITY OF LOVELAND TRAIL EXTENSION
State and regional transportation grants totaling $1,225,000 will fund design and construction of a new, hard-surface trail spanning the gap between Denver Avenue and Boyd Lake Avenue on the south shore of Boyd Lake.

City of Loveland Map

The South Boyd Lake Trail will follow a 1.34-mile route from Denver Avenue, running adjacent to the unpaved Greeley-Loveland Irrigation Co. canal maintenance road on the south side of Boyd Lake. The trail will connect to a pedestrian underpass, currently under construction, at North Boyd Lake Ave. as part of Centerra. A proposed .43 mile spur trail will link the South Boyd Lake Trail to Boyd Lake Trail where it crosses over the Hoffman Reservoir Outlet.  The trail's design phase will begin this summer, with construction projected during the summer of 2021.
