Walking Tours of Historic Dover
Now through Labor Day Weekend
The Dover Chamber is once again offering walking tours of historic Dover on Saturday mornings at 10:30 a.m. Three different 90 minute walking tours will be offered throughout the summer and take place from one of three Dover locations as specified on the tour schedule.

The next Downtown Tour will be held on Saturday, July 14th  at 10:30 a.m. leaving from the Dover Chamber, located at 550 Central AvenueTake a guided stroll down Central Avenue and the Central Business District, learn all about the rise and fall of the textile industry and Dover's Black Day while hearing personal tales of Dover's history.

Motorcycle Ride for the Monarch School of New England

A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum

A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum  is a classic Broadway musical with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and book by Burt Shevelove and Larry Gelbart.  Inspired by the farces of the ancient Roman playwright Plautus, Forum tells the bawdy story of a cunning slave names Pseudolus and his attempts to win his freedom by helping his young master woo the girl next door. This hilarious vaudeville romp features every Funny Thing you can imagine (including the kitchen sink) - rubber chickens, banana peels, cream pies, puns, love potions, mistaken identity, chase scenes, beautiful showgirls and, of course, a happy ending.

6th Annual Trick or Trot 5K & Kids Fun Run

Shaws Lane, Dover
A fundraiser for the DMS PTA, the race will begin at Shaws Lane, in Dover, New Hampshire at  8:15am with the Kids Fun Run; all children in costume will receive a spooky treat. At  9:00am, the 5K race will begin; medals and cash prices for the top three male and female finishers will be awarded. 
Proceeds from the event will be used to enhance the DMS student experience by funding field trips, equipment and supplies for the Nurse's office, Library, and Wellness departments.  In addition, funds raised will support materials for all classrooms, recess supplies, and special programs like the anti-bullying program, Safe Kids Strong Teens and other activities that benefit DMS students.  Early registration fee is $20; the first 200 registered runners will get a free t-shirt. Registration for Summer Music & Art Therapy is Open! Inclusive music and art therapy groups aim to help individuals 3-21 years old identify strengths, explore identity, and build self esteem. Each session is developed age-appropriately based on participants' strengths and needs. Summer Session II will begin  Saturday August 18th  and run for 6 consecutive weeks through  September 28th . Wednesday, July 18th, 10am-7:30pm: Scavenger Hunt
Grab some friends and join us for a Scavenger Hunt through the city of Dover.  Teams of 2 or more will be asked to find landmarks, take pictures in certain locations, and be tested on their knowledge of their home town.  This is an all-ages event, but we will have prize winners in 3 categories:  preschool to 5th grade, 6th grade to 12th grade, and adults. Fastest team in each category wins a $25 Cowlicks Dairy Bar gift card!  Your team will register at the library any time after 10am but you must be back at the Library before we close at 8:30pm.  I would suggest leaving at least 1 ½ hours to complete the course.
Wednesday, July 18th, 2:15-6pm: Dover Farmers' Market
Once again, we will set up our branch library at the Dover Farmer's Market.  A StoryWalk of the children's picture book We're Going on a Bear Hunt by Michael Rosen will also be set up at the market. We will offer an activity based on the book at our booth.  library.dover.nh.gov

Seeking a Youthful Perspective on Dover's Rising Waters
Application Deadline: July 12th
The High Water Mark Project is conducting a contest to select a young artist to create a public art project that will spark community conversations about the impacts of flooding and rising sea levels.  At least one winning project proposal will be selected, and the artist will win a cash prize.  If you are such a young artist, or, perhaps someone who would like to support this community art project, Check out our website for additional information on the contest and how to become a sponsor.  The Dover Rising Waters initiative is a group of volunteer citizens working to implement climate actions identified in the City's Master Plan. Its first undertaking, the High Water Mark Project, seeks to engage community members in proposing and implementing public art projects that convey future flood risks as sea levels rise and extreme precipitation events become more frequent and intense.
4th Annual IMPACT Award Voting
Deadline: July 13th
Dover residents are invited to vote for their favorite local non-profit organization to receive the Red Sox Foundation's fourth annual "IMPACT" Award and a $10,000 donation! Last year's winner was Zebra Crossings, based in Dover. The 2018 IMPACT program will donate a total of $75,000 to 15 New England charitable organizations, which are dedicated to social justice, diversity, and inclusion. Voting is currently open at redsox.com/impact ,  with voting in New Hampshire closing July 13.
