How did the school you chose separate itself from the others you considered?
The things that separated Berry from the other schools I was considering were the level of academic strength, the Life Works program they offer, and the beautiful campus.
How would you describe your recruiting process overall?
I would describe my recruiting process as an elongated process due to COVID-19. I had several visits planned for March and April 2020, but then COVID shut everything down. This was a massive change to my timeline seeing as I lost out on 4 school visits at the time. It was 4 months from the start of the lock down before I could start to visit schools again. Everything ended up getting pushed back until the end of the summer season, and then it picked up from there. I ended up visiting Berry for the 2nd time in mid-September of my senior year, and knew it was a place I could call home for the next 4 years.
What was your favorite part of the recruiting process?
My favorite part of the recruiting process was when I visited Berry College for the 2nd time. A lot of people throughout the process told me that I would know when I found the right place for me and I got that feeling in my gut at Berry on my 2nd visit.
What opportunities and information assisted you during your recruiting process?
Google and SportsRecruits were my best friend during the recruiting process. I was fortunate to know what I wanted to study, so I would spend a lot of time looking up schools that had the major I was looking for. This is how I first came across Berry College and the program there since it was not a program I knew much about before the process started.
Did you feel like you had support from the Team 24/7 Staff during your process? If so, how?
The 24/7 staff supported me the entirety of the recruiting process. They provided a lot of resources to help me work through my recruiting process, and helped me figure out where I would best succeed at the next level. In addition to the resources provided, all of the staff was more then happy to reach out to a coach to put in a good word for you which was really helpful. The coaches also reached out to schools that I didn't even know of and recommend me to the Coach of said schools to make sure I had options. The support was enough for me to know someone was always there, but limited enough to let me control my own recruiting process.
What individual or showcase events, if any, did you find the most beneficial during your process?
The individual event that I found most beneficial for me was a Berry College prospect day. This is because it showed the coaches that I truly wanted to attend Berry College, and I wasn't there to get looks from other schools. But with that, nothing beats the team events that I went to in my summers playing for Team 24/7
What would you tell younger players or parents to help them prepare for the recruiting process?
Don't get impatient. It is more important to take a longer time in order to find the perfect school than it is to be one of the first to commit.
