The mission of Trinity Church is to share Christ's love and grace in a vibrant community whose joyful spirit empowers people to do God's work.

SENIOR WARDEN'S NOTES
The parish survey is now available, both in hard copy and on-line. Members of the Discernment Committee – Karla, Alda, Bruce, Prudence, Paige, Chris, and Dan -- do not take a lot of credit for it, saying humbly that they began with a template, but it is a very good survey that is tailored for our parish. I took it on-line and found it very easy to navigate. The amount of time it takes depends on the depth of your answers. The survey questions were a very good way for me to reflect on just what direction I’d like to see Trinity take in the next several years. Some of the questions were quite introspective for me, so taking the survey was not just for data for the parish profile, but also a good way for me to think about Trinity and my place in it. I hope you will find the survey leading you on such paths of, well, discernment, and that’s what this is all about.

We are entering the time of year when we focus on stewardship and how we give our gifts, both monetarily and personally. In some ways, the money part is easier than the personal part. There are no set guidelines for either, but giving generously has always been a part of the Trinity tradition. The time without a rector requires us to rethink who does what in our church, and I hope you’ll take this time to decide where your heart and skills and personal budget take you for the next year.

Some volunteer opportunities are kind of one-shot deals – School Dressing Days, grounds clean-up, and Elf Sunday, for example -- allowing busy parishioners an opportunity to help without making a huge time commitment. I like to invite my non-Trinity family members, especially my granddaughters, to participate in these. Others require a more regular time commitment, such as Tuesday night Outreach, Sunday School teaching, and Altar Guild. Some efforts require special talent, such as belonging to the choir or the Saturday night Trinity band or leading a Bible study or book group. Work and family responsibilities surely limit volunteer time, but some parishioners figure out how to contribute a few hours, regardless. Two of the people who help prepare Micah breakfast show up at 6:30 AM on Friday, help significantly, and then leave to go to their jobs. Most of the Vestry members this year are still working and several have young families. Yet they volunteer their time. So there is something for everyone, regardless of age, family, and work status.

During our time of transition, if you have a pastoral concern and wish to speak to a priest, please call the church office at 540-373-2996. If the office is closed, please call the Senior Warden Claire Curcio at 540-479-6988 or 540-903-3939 or the Junior Warden Barry Holliday at 540-786-0552.

Trinity Discernment Prayer

O Everlasting, Omniscient, and Loving God

We confess that our daily worries and concerns
often blind us to your voice and guidance in our lives.

We thank You for this time of change,
may it be an opportunity to grow together more closely
as followers of your son Jesus Christ
as we work to discern your path forward for our congregation.

We pray that You will watch over the Bishop, diocesan transitional
ministry team, the parish clergy, members of our vestry,
and the other leaders of our church as they lead us on a new path for our parish.

We pray for the members of the discernment committee
as they endeavor to do Your holy work in calling a new rector for Trinity.

We pray for all the members of our parish family during this time of transition
that we come closer to You and feel your presence in our hearts.

Amen.
