Cities
San Francisco : Today the City Council will be voting on a city-wide PLA that CFEC and our allies have been fighting for almost 20 years.

SHOW UP AT 1:45 pm
Legislative Chamber, Room 250 City Hall, 1 Dr. Carlton B. Goodlett Place San
Francisco, CA 94102-4689.

TELL the Board not to rush voting on a bill that will harm merit shop workers, minority and women contractors. Demand the Board consider the potential harm of a citywide PLA without a requirement of the 12B equal benefits program or protections for small, minority and women-contractors.

ASK that the Board wait until after we have an elected Mayor and after opportunity for public debate.

Note: The proposed ordinance is Item 28 on the June 5th BOS Meeting Agenda. Urge the Board to vote no on Supervisor Safai's motion to advance the Proposed Citywide PLA Ordinance to a full Board vote.

This is the latest greenmail target of local construction unions who are objecting to it on #CEQA environmental review grounds!

Livermore:  We need your help in the City of Livermore! Unions are using greenmail to hold up this private mixed-use project!

When and Where:
Livermore City Council Meeting
Monday, June 11th 7pm
3575 Pacific Ave. Livermore

Agenda Item 5.03  - Support approval of Legacy at Livermore Project  - This private project is being targeted for a Project Labor Agreement through the CEQA process. The developer has asked us to attend the council meeting.

The Project:

Hearing to consider a proposal from Legacy Partners to redevelop the former Groth Brothers Chevrolet site, which occupies the block bounded by First Street, South L Street, South M Street, and Railroad Avenue, with a mixed-use development consisting of two buildings that, together, contain 222 apartments and approximately 14,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space. One proposed building fronts onto First Street and contains approximately 14,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space with 34 apartments in two floors above. A surface parking lot with 49 spaces serves the retail space. A second building, located on the northern half of the site ranges from three to four stories and contains 188 apartments and 392 parking spaces contained within an internal multi-level parking structure. The development includes public and private amenities, including publicly accessible landscaped courtyards, a public path that connects South M Street with Railroad Avenue, and a private rooftop terrace and swimming pool for residents. The proposed Certificate of Appropriateness is needed to authorize the demolition of four existing buildings, including an ancillary building, that are more than 50 years old. A Tree Removal authorization is required to remove existing on-site trees. The proposed Development Agreement would secure off-site public improvements and vest development fees for one year.

San Mateo : Despite city staff giving excellent reasons why a PLA would not be advantageous to their wastewater treatment plant, this city council appears ready to do anything they can to give big labor special interests what it is they demand. Staff has been asked to work with unions to "negotiate" a PLA on the this project. Of course there is no "negotiation" with PLAs only "Here's the PLA now sign it."

Please contact the City Council and let them know what a PLA means for them on this $200+ million job.
