National Leader in Refinery Health and Safety

At Valero, safety is the foundation of our success.

The Valero Benicia Refinery is one of the safest refineries in the nation. It has continuously earned the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Star Site designation since 2006.

It is one of only two oil refineries in the state to receive the California/OSHA Voluntary Protection Program Star Site designation – OSHA’s highest safety certification – for its exceptional safety practices and procedures.

The Refinery has earned numerous safety awards including the 2017 Safety Achievement Award from American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers (AFPM) and the 2016 Valero Chairman’s Safety Award for going more than three years and four million working hours without an employee injury.
